Internet Body Kit Archaeology

Hi All,

As I've been digging relentlessly for this early 2000s stuff for my CG (sorry CH dudes, not much info for you here!), I thought I'd share my findings while trawling japanese webpages and auction sites. Below is all of the "real" (non-replica/cheap brand reproductions ala extreme dimensions/vis racing, no name kits from bodykit.com or whatever) I've found so far. This is real deal, tried and true OG Japanese tuner shop stuff which is pretty close to being lost to time, so I figure here is a good spot to archive it for future CG/CS/Cedia owners to find.

Each brand/variant will get its own post within this thread to make for easy, clutter-free reading.

Beginning with the DAMD Imperial. DAMD is probably most famous for doing the bodykit on Brians green Evo VII in 2 Fast 2 Furious and oddball miata stuff. This is a Cedia Wagon (CS5W) kit, and appears to be an add-on to our VR-X bumper (unsure of what japanese trim level also had this bar) with replacement skirts
I can't tell if this is an official dealer, or if they're still supplying but Google Translate says this shop isn't taking any orders at all currently.

Second up is the GIALLA Sportivo.
Listed on the same webstore that's not taking orders, I would imagine this, the DAMD kit, and all future entries to this thread are discontinued and have been for over a decade. Tuner culture from 2002 is long dead, so it makes sense.

Appears to be similar to the DAMD kit as it is a lip kit for a VR-X front bar, but full replacement side skirts - however this also has a rear bumper add-on as opposed to a full bar replacement like I originally thought.

This one is super niche and likely never had a production run, but I feel like it's a nice filler for the Cedia Rabbit Hole™ we are tumbling down.

Takero has a blog as well:

TAKERO'S did do a production kit, I found only after I made the prev post..
They seem to specialise in ultra low volume items but do have an online store!

SPECIALE is up next. It's worth noting that most of these brands also seem to offer their own grille replacement, howver finding one from any of these brands is likely impossible without the patience of Job. Known as the "SPECIALE FULL BLOOM SPECIAL"

Another VR-X bar add-on for the front and rear, with skirt replacements. Also features own-brand headlight eyelids.

Next is Garage TOPLINE, kit's name is "RISE" - I can't find much on this kit except sporadic use on minkara, and a link that shows it's discontinued.

This kit is quite nice, it's a hybrid of ideas from the factory VR-X styled bar, and ideas from the Kenstyle kit, looking at the use of the "puffed cheeks" the Kenstyle kit has where the fogs go, except on this kit they're made to work with the factory foglight position. Very tidy kit.

Next, (and last for tonight) is RoaR, who do/did two kits that I'm aware of. the "E-Style" and the more popular one which is called "S-Style". RoaR is seemingly an in-house Mitsubishi project like Ralliart. They seem to only supply/cater to mitsubishis, to the point they've closed their public trading domain to focus on being available at Mitsu dealers exclusively.

Next up is LUCKY☆STAR / LUCKY STAR

This one is a bit of a headscratcher, can't find a kit model name, a website for the company or anything. Possibly a company that never got onto the internet? Here's some pics anyway.

Today we begin with the "BSM" brand kit. No links to be found, but I almost didn't feature this kit at all. I was under the impression it was a Takero's rep, however the foglight area and air ducting next to it, and the lower grille area, are indeed different enough for it to get it posted. Funnily enough, I learned they were not in fact a rep dealer when it turns out their biggest success has been on corvettes, where they're a well established (but now possibly defunct?) brand, and I hadn't given them the deserved respect.

I've been saving the most well-known brand for (sorta) last. since KENSTYLE do both a sedan/Lancer kit and a wagon/Cedia kit, I'll split it into two posts. This one is for the wagon, CS5W although if the older forum posts are to be believed, they should also fit the sedan. Anywho...

LINK: http://www.kenstyle.co.jp/ (although all of these kits are discontinued and have been scrubbed from the site)

Also featuring a foglight insert I've got *zero* info on:

And now for the KENSTYLE sedan kit:

And I think the only major difference is the boot/hatch door on the wagon dips below the bumper line on the wagon - however as the Kenstyle kits appear to only be a full front bumper +side skirt replacement and a rear lip, it shouldn't matter.

Now for some odd bits that I don't think deserve an individual thread, but are in the same vein as bodykits:

I think Ralliart's been covered pretty well by the forums up to this point, but if you would like more, I can post it!

New update! I've finally tracked down info on the rear wing on the 2001 SEMA Modern Image build, and subsequently on Kontradiction's build over in EvoM - this wing is by Rhys Millen Racing, and the only other info I have is that it was available as a 3pc wing (early builds) and later a 4pc wing with a centre strut to support the centre.

I can't link a listing that no longer exists, but please have this screencap of the old listing from around 2011.
