Can you put an EVO bonnet onto a CE lancer without any custom work? I ask because I am trying to replace to bonnet (proving very hard to do) and I can get a carbon fibre EVO bonnet for $500.

Carbon fibre is not legal on Australian roads, evo bonnet will fit the equivalent sedan but not coupes/mirage.

NZ may have carbon fibre allowed on cars, but has said above evo bonnets will fit sedans but you can get fibre glass and carbon fibre one for the coupe/mirages. If your worried about the police check your laws first to see if CF and FB are allowed in your area.

Carbon and Glass is fine on NZ roads. Ive been emailing every wrecker for mitzis I can find but noone seems to have a bonnet for me. Looks like it may be cheaper and easy to get mine paneled and painted.

I'll be selling mine soon, if you haven't already got one maybe you might want it

let me know when u do mdclear, ive always wanted one lol

also to answer the original question, EVO bonnets dont fit on ce coupes, only the sedans, as evos are based on the sedan shape. if its an "EVO Style" bonnet made for the coupe shape then thats a different story.

 Carbon fiber bonnets are legal, but they need to be attached properly with after market brackets and be pinned

and the tested and engineered to ADR standards. which cost so muct its cheaper to say there not

Mmm mainly the reason you hardly see any.
Probably the reason people think they are illegal :O

well no one has the money to do this so that makes it illegal unless you do. But there are some bonnets in CF that are illegal because of the the way they splinter in a crash

I cant be bothered replying to this as it comes up alot I'd check wth transport in whatever state you in.

Anyway Maybe searching for CF coupe ones like suggested is the go maybe although shipping will be the killer.

I remember rear facing scoops beign illegal becouse of engine oil getting on window.

Then there was GT wings, becouse if you hit someone, they could go up and over your car, and the wing could cause bodily harm

Painted calipers being illegal unless you have after marker rims!!!!

Gawd, I've heard alot... most fo them are utter BS, some I find are actualy true

Also, regardless of why, how or how much...
YOU CAN GET FB AND CF BONNETS TO BE LEGAL

Thus making them..... legal???

So its not "they are illegal"
Its, "they are legal, but"

Yawn yourself... Carbon fibre parts, especially structural parts are NOT legal. Consult your ADRs and State/Territory Motor Transport office...

CF Parts are race application only.

The only way you are going to make the legal, champ, is to have them either imported as a homologated part, at the time of vehicle manufacture and testing or to have it independently tested...

And.. unless you are going to put your money where your mouth is, and pay out that sum to have it done for us all, you have done nothing for this thread.

And yes, we see people espousing the same one-liners, 'Carbon Fiber IS LEGAL'..

I, for one, am sick of this bollocks... sure, you may have seen a lot too, but over the years I have heard every pipsqueak know-it-all tell us something, that when we ring Transport, we find out their lack any knowledge or basis...

Why not, next time, come into the conversation with a shred of proof (something written from a Department with some authority in these matters).

I promise to sit up and notice, then....

I was really looking for a blue one so i just had to bolt up. If I had to import from AUS would be cheaper for me to get paneled (has weird 'dent' like it has flexed in the wind, crazy thin bonnet).
