Hey guys what are peoples views on Hens Performance turbo package?

I have been thinking a lot this last week about money (future.. i.e: buying a house.. starting somewhat of a future for me and my partner) and the evo conversion and is it really worth it? after reading topics here, other forums etc im just not sure if it is. There are so many extra parts for the evo conversion compared to a 4g93 turbo setup done by henry im sure of it.

I honestly think that it would be more practical.. money wise.. hassle-free wise to go with hens and his setup aswell as having an engine rebuild beforehand as my engine has 190K on the clock.

What are peoples views on my idea?

good or bad I would love to hear it.

all depends on how many of the extra parts you go with from henry, if you just go the basic kit he has that will be cheaper but you will want more power im guessing so then youll need to spend more money.

im really just after a mild-medium turbo setup with 120-150kw and I would be over the moon. id be quite happy to use any parts that henry would provide/recommend aswell.

if ur keen on that then go for it, sounds a bit more practical than a evo swap
i cant see an evo swap being that useful unless ur going the awd which costs a bucketload

as for henry i have heard nothing but good news from his work

evo swap is on all the noobs mods list

i'd go for this. but there will be more work then just slapping a turbo on and expecting high performance straight away

im well aware its not just slap a turbo on and go dude. and being a noob... lol well i just wasnt thinking.. i guess you could say i was being selfish when it comes down to it wanting the evo swap and didnt consider how it would effect me and my partner long term.

lather. rinse. repeat. and repeat. and repeat. and repeat. :wtf:  :wtf:

cm5a conversion. done.

if you don't have $10k to lay on the table, this is all just talk. regardless of direction.

where's royzie? i wanna hear what he has to say

evo 4 front cut will work better in my opinion mate, Henry's kits don't get me wrong are great value for money but for the same money you will have a 2lt and a better gearbox. Really aint many extra's involved in using a front cut, besides an exhaust and belts...

I know this one is a bit more costly than others that i have posted up but that's all that's around ATM... Also i have noticed that you have done the rounds of a few forums saying that you are Gunner do a engine conversion on your coupe... either do it or not its that easy hey or buy a evo 456...

the evo conversion is not as easy as you think. sure there are a few similarities. but they are quite different. despite the badging. evos and lancers are two different cars. not saying its not possible, but in terms of path of least resistance, the cm5a conversion is the easier and best option. why? because they are basically the same car. they are the jap versions of the aus lancer (see what i did there?). they are the lancers ours should have been. that's why the engine would slot in a lot easier than an evo. anyways, im done talking about this one. will hold out for next week when the next person asks about ebay turbo kits / hens turbo kits / evo conversion / fto conversion

I can help u here, keep ur 18's and put your stock es suspension back in. Will look just like my Mrs' monster truck cj.

As for hens kit. If you're doing the work all yourself and u know how to do everything, half cuts will prob get u the biggest gains in power. But if you're going to be paying for it to be done you'll be looking $10g min. Hens kit, fully installed and tuned for 4000, well good luck getting that sort of money value anywhere else. And his kits include pistons, gaskets, manifolds etc etc.
The other thing to consider is useable power. With an evo conversion, ur basically putting the same power through the front wheels that evos put to all four. Kris (dye04) said he used to get wheel spin in 3rd gear at 140 out of nowhere in his mirage - not exactly much fun if its going to be a daily driver.

Where do I start......??!!??

Ok, Difference between Hens Kit and Halfcut.

Your stock engine how long will it last on min boost??? without being internally strengthen.
Hens Kit alot cheaper....and power output, Im not totally sure... but my guess is around the 90kw-100kw atw
Halfcut, CE CM5A pushs around 140kw atw but has a price tag around double!!!
But in saying that you have a better base turbo engine and DOHC.

You have been talking about an EVO Conversion for a lonnnnng time now, If you dont have the money, I would suggest dont do it!

You also say your buying a house in the near future?!!?? Your gonna need a 10% deposit for a loan... around 20-30k would be a good start.

I would leave the whole EVO conversion thing and use the 10k for your house.

Even I have disposable income, but mortgages come first (yes I meant plural..)

Cars are nice to have, not that mine is anything special.. no turbo, fwd, crap brakes! But, in the long run, I will retire as a millionaire...

I agree with the sentiments above, keep your car, it does the job. Save for your house...

coz we're all doing 140 in our daily driving? Man, I wanna be on the same roads as you. FYI.. Wheelspin doesn't come from nowhere.

DANGER TO MANIFOLD!!!

Better close that laptop screen.

points noted and taken well on board thanks for all the constructive criticism!

im not going to say anything more on any of this as it makes me look stupid and much a gunner and thats not the impression i want to give off even though it has already been set in concrete.

i will update my ride thread as i do what i do. but in saying that i do appreciate all the advice.

Sorry mate. Its only because we have heard it all before and gets old.

I only started to post my conversion when I had the money and I was going to buy my halfcut, and asking for advice where I could buy one from....

A month later, I had the CM5A 4G93T in my car.

Your only a gunna if you dont have the money, and that seems like its the case with you.

Like I said before, I can help with everything you may need. Just send me a PM when you are ready, and I can shoot you in the right direction.

yeah dude thats cool i completely understand and would probably assume the same thing if i was looking at my own words from another persons point of view.

i will be in touch when the time is right.
