Hi everyone! Wanted to say hello since my wife and I have just bought a '12 Lancer sedan in white. The Lancer turned out to be a welcome addition as it's cheaper to run, quite reliable and surprisingly good to drive. Here's a pic of our "new" car
And this used to be our daily
I don't know what the norm is here but I'm hoping it's OK to ask a question - I've done some searching and am at my wit's end, but want to see if anyone can lend a hand
We bought the car 2nd hand with only 1 key. Works perfectly but worried we'll lose it and have a pretty big door stop for a garage. From what I've read, I've got the following options:
1. Go back to Mitisi. They quoted me $380 for supply, cut and program. Gives me genuine functions (remote control and start)
2. Go aftermarket - something like Mister Minit. They want $180 to do an aftermarket key and immobiliser chip. Key looks like crap TBH, and no remote control. But at least we can key the door, start the engine, and drive
3. Buy a used key. I'm inclined to do this but want to know if anyone can possibly help with (a) re-programming the immobiliser chip, and (b) help me re-program the remote control to work with our car
I know it's probably one of the more painful first questions from a newbie but we'd really appreciate any help at all! Thanks in advance =)
