So i was wondering if anyone knows a good places to take my car for a service in brisbane? cannon hill area would be best. Iv had the car for 5 months or so now and done around 6 - 10k kms since getting it and its starting to jolt when in low gears, if going around 20k's in 2nd then put my foot down just abit more it will jolt about 5 - 6 times then run fine or even in first gear taking off at the lights i can take off the same way and have different results i thought it might be me changing gear too soon or too much gas however friends tell me its my spark plugs.

So im looking for a good places to take my car that wont rip me off or stuff up my car as i have f@#$ all knowledge about cars :( any help would be great

Cheers

Taylor Street Mechanical at bulimba.

little shop owned by two old school racers. i take my car there. try finding a shop that will do work a vr4

Its an 01 GLi coupe 1.5l

If no other places are mentioned ill check that place out paul cheers for ur speedy reply :)

Edit: To ask another question while im here, my steering feels like *poo*! so flimsy after driving a mates holden ute and an accord 09 my car feels so weak :( and laggy in the steering wheel. I just figured this was due to the car being light and older but maybe lowering it would help? or 17" rims. Just started coming into some money so im able to start slowly fixing it up.

Two things can fix that here, better tyres and coilovers (unless money is tight just skip the whole lowering springs idea...).

Ok thank you, may end up getting the car serviced by a memeber on here so ill see how it all goes.

for handling, wider rims&tyres will give u alot firmer grounding to the car, loweing springs after that make an even firmer grounding again, but bumps can throw off steering a tiny bit, nothing too worry about once u get used to it
with springs you will need to get some shocks to suit otherwise ur handling will get worse if ur stock shocks are worn out... this is the time where u look at your budget and say coilovers or lowering springs? as doing springs correctly with new shocks costs only a little less than a set of coilovers, and coilovers give better tweaking and adjustability of height and ride stiffness, so if u can stretch the extra its worth it IMO

Awesome here i was thinking it was purely the car itself. Yeah iv been lurking these forums for along time (even before i owned a car) and have noticed the whole coilovers vs springs. that type of money isnt in my reach currently as im still paying the car off. But im happier knowing i can improve the drive once the bigger cash flow comes in.

After reading around i see that alot of you guys hate these type of posts purely asking for help then pissing off but i cant offer much help to anyone here other then replying with random *poo* heh.
