This is a General Info Thread to cover all the basic and not so basic information on the CG/CH Lancer

Lancers of this designation are often refered to as CS lacers, as that is the model code stamped onto the VIN plate, covering CS2A through to CS9W. CG's were released in mid 2002 for initial sale in Australia. The CH was released in 2003 and went on sale until 2007 at the release of the CJ. CG's & CH's initial sales overlapped with CE sales, due to them all being produced at the same time up until 2003. There is often confusion over model designations due to the overlap. The CH wagon was released in 2004.

All CS lancers are 4 door sedans or 5 door wagons, there are no coupes or hatch's like the CE's.

CG

CG's were released with only the 2L (4G94)

Motor - G94
Power -- 92 - kW
Torque -- 172 - NM
Displ. -- 1999 - cc
Bore -- 81.5 - mm
Stroke -- 95.8 - mm

Option packs were LS, ES, Exceed (Luxury) and VRX (Top/Sport line).

The big features of the VRX included a full body kit, sports instrument cluster, power windows all round and VRX alloy wheels. On all models an electric sunroof and ABS were optional extras.

Wheel specs:

All 4x100
LS, ES & Exceed featured 14x5.5" wheels with 185/65R14 tyres.
VRX's came with 15x6" wheels with 195/55R15 tyres.

CH

CH's were released initially only with the 2L (4G94), however with the release of the series 2, in July 2005 all CH's came with the newer and larger 2.4L (4G69).

Motor ---- G94 ---- G69
Power --- 92 ---- 115 kW
Toque -- 179 ----- 220 NM
Displ. -- 1999 ---- 2387 CC
Bore ---- 81.5 ---- 87 mm
Stroke -- 95.8 ---- 100 mm

Option packs were ES, LS, Velocity, Exceed & VRX

All models are 4 stud beside the VRX which is 5x114.3
At the time of the release of the 2.4L motor for all CH's, a facelift (Series2) was brought out bringing the single grille front bar to replace the twin grille style. This bar had two varients, chrome or black mesh.

ES was the base model, released with a basic interior, grey seats, plastics & dash. NB All Series 2 got the updated black interior.
Exceed is the luxury spec, only avaliable in Auto with the G94, featuring a beige leather appointed interior, black instrument cluster and woodgrain dash. All options including power windows, alloy wheels and cruise control were standard on this car besides sunroof & ABS.
LS is a higher spec ES lancer with full electric windows all round. Electric & body colour painted door mirrors. Unsure of the exact diferences between ES & LS
Velocity was released only in 2007 as an affordable feature packed final edition of the CH before the CJ joined the line up.
VRX the top of the line sport pack of the CH series. This featured a full body kit with a longer front bumper, front & rear lips, side skirts and altezza style taillights. Other big features were the full black interior, white instrument cluster, evo style shifter boot & knob, 5x114.3 stud hub, 276mm front brakes and solid rear disc brakes. Larger rear sway bar a front strut brace and 1" lower VRX springs are also notable features.

- VIN Information -

CS Designates the CG/CH Body. The following two digits determine the engine and the body shape. 6 refers to the 4G94 motor, 7 refers the 4G69 motor. A refers to the sedan boday, and W refers to the wagon body.

Example: CS6A is a 2L Sedan and CS7W is a 2.4L Wagon.

Further: Relevance to JDM codes

Wheels:

There were a stack of different options avaliable for the CH from factory, featuring steel wheels w/hubcaps in 14x5.5, mags in 14x5.5, 6 spoke alloys in 15x6 and the VRX 5 spoke Enkei's in 16x6.

Nice work. Didn't even know the Exceed model existed. Probably for the best since its interior is horrendous lol

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but would it be worth also posting the hub bores for CG/CH? Can't see that listed anywhere on the site currently, nor anywhere online for AUDM reference

For sure, if you have the specs, post them and I can edit it into the first post. If not I’ll do some searching later and drop the info in

Some other info.

Vrx and LS had centre consoles with lids. Two styles, single storage with a suede? lid. Double storage with a plastic lid. Not sure what the designation fot these was, but plastic is grey and suede is black so maybe matching series 1 and series 2?

Also is it worth noting seat trims? From what I can gather, series 1 cloth is mostly grey checkered inserts. Series 2 is mostly blue checkered inserts. And then the velocity? had a black leather/suede interior. And there was a distinction where some had rear armrest, some didn't. Some had the 70/30 split, some didn't. Again, dunno the distinction there.

With rear seats,
I think LATE model facelifts got folding rear seats
All wagons have folding seats (duh)

Cup holder armrest
VRX is 2 sections and all black and plastic. The top lid is softer but plastic all the same.
LATE VRX (mostly auto’s by this point) got the cloth lid
I didnt know they made a single lid version or that it was even available in grey so that’s cool info.
Evo ones bolt in also, all of them are cloth. They have IC spray switch in place of coin holder

so is a cs vrx the same as a ch/cg?
CS/CG/CH are all the same chassis, CG/CH are names exclusively used in aus to denote the difference between pre/post facelift CS lancers. There's a ton of variance between any two given models of CS/CG/CH so your question is a "how long is a piece of string" when it comes to anything brake/wheel related
