gearbox switching

Just wondering if it is possible to switch a gearbox from a ce lancer to a cc lancer

I have a ce gearbox in my cc lancer! I got it converted from auto which the mechanics did, it is possible

I highly doubt that. They are the wrong orientation and will not bolt on at all. Your mechanics probably got the model incorrect. 1996 has both cc and ce lancers produced. Most people say cc are 92-95 and ce 96-02 which is completely wrong. Cc is 92-96, ce coupes are 96-03, sedans 96-02.

Well i went to get a new synchro not long ago, we all thought it was a cc box, had troubles with the synchro not being the correct size and he figured out it was a ce box.

Is there like an id number to ensure what the box was from and if so where abouts?

Only certain gearbox that could have been used was from a ce wagon, technically they are still a cc though as same shape was carried on till 2002

Maybe they got confused with different cc models, the later cb shape lancers were also classified as a cc, and their gearboxs are different to cc models

but as was stated above, ce gearboxs (non wagon) will not match up or fit in a cc

I was hoping it was a ce cause i need a new box and would of rathered getting a ce then cc
