Door card retrimming

Soooo Here is how you do it.

Remove door car from door

Remove old crap from said door (before moving on clean any dust left behind with prepsol or something. i also went over it quickly with sand paper doubt it helped)

Use your old material as a rough template, Cut a good 1-1.5in atleast around it. This sht will need stretching.

Next Spray the glue on both surfaces(or follow can directions if its different) and start placing the material down. (probably better to start at the top but up to you)

Now once thats done Grab something that will fit in the ridge in the plastic and slowly run it around.

Now you can trim the material. either lift it up slowly and cut as you go (i did. was a pain with scissors) Till your left with this

good lil diy, looks nice and easy.
what do you mean when you say "lift it up slowly and cut as you go"? did you stick a knife in the groove and run it around?

Oh like around the edge. To get scissors there you have to pull it out of the groove. If you have a sharp knife then you could probably run that around the groove.

Nice... what sort of spray did you use? And how did u get the old trim out?
I think its was something called quick grip? i found it at super cheap. old stuff you can just pull off dude.

did it as per the steps and this is the final product, used acrylic felt from spotlight @$7/m

took about 30mins for the whole lot as looks awesome, thanks for the DIY

Came up better then the first try on mine haha. Gj dude. Just rub it every morning for the next few days aswell. Mine came up a bit :(

here is mine i did a few years back
i found it that when i did mine, the hardest part was infact cutting the material and making it look neat when folded into the grooves

but since then i have pulled it all out and gone OEM as a few months after i did it, we had a 40+ day and the glue just melted as my car was sitting in the sun

same steps also work for the parcel shelf, only took a bit longer as the carpet is thinner and doesnt come off in one strip, recommend having a few very sharp razor blades handy as the dust in the fibers dulls the blade really quick

Quick Grip is a contact adhesive, obviously you bought it in an aerosol can for ease of application. I think you can also get another one that is specifically designed for roof linings, etc but am unsure of the name - either would work.

I did mine ages ago and the drivers side trim I had to rip off the other day coz it started to hang off. I'm not sure if I got the wrong material or whatever bit I did a bad job and was wondering if there's any extra tips or recommended material...

Zoom in on the drivers door lol

Step 1 red and black MR door
Trims with electric windows.

Step2...

mmm fair fair. still electric windows ;) i think the trick is to sand the crap out of the old glue, that stuff will flake anything off it after youve pulled it off

This is another option, carbon fiber wrap.

The tricky part was getting it smoother and removing the glue is the key to it.

@ cesario - where did you get the red beading. What should I search for, I'd like some in yellow.

Need to completely clean the surface of the old crappy glue, sand it back hardcore. Preparation is the key to anything care related. No prep = dodge job. Also when you use the KiwkGrip, needs to be sprayed on both surfaces, wait 30-60sec, THEN stick them together. That's all there really is to it.

Cheers guys, I'll give it a go :) might try for some orange vinyl if I can find some.

@lancer1993 the red trim around the door trim ? I found some on ebay in loads of colours.

Dunno how to get the link from the eBay app but this is it.

Thanks, think I saw some on eBay similar 4mm wide but in yellow, which is what I want.

It just sticks on with the 3M tape right. Need to put it on my shopping list.

That's what I used around my cards. Works fine. It has adhesive back already. Just peel and apply.
