DIY; Roof Lining

*my coppied post of MCA with a few mods

Well at the moment i am pulling out my roof lining from my 2000 CE Lancer coupe and re-trimming it to a white fabric.

i dont think anyone would need this, but for the hell of it ill put it on anyway.

Materials;
screwdrivers
flat head screwdriver
material (2 metres should do it just fine) *try using a thick-ish material and not something that you can see through if you hold it in the light.
spray on adhesive (spetone is amazing! spotlight *poo* was pathetic)
some sort of cleaning chemical (wax and grease remover again septone)
lots of patience. !!!!!!!!!!! cant stress this enough

First off all you need to undo all your clips and screws that hold your roof lining in. (ie sun visors, the hand hold things on the roof, front side and back pillars)

the screws are behind the passenger side hand hold thingy on the roof, behind your interior light and behind your sunvisors.
the rest are clips that you need to pull out. these are your gray pillars, be carefull because breaking clips is not good . just get a flat head screw driver and pull them out. these are on the top on the drivers side, and in the back.

once this is done you need to pull out your seat belt holders which has a really big bolt, once this is off you should be able to pull the plastic trim out.

once all your plastic trims are out your roof lining should just fall down.

pull your roof lining out of your car. this can be difficult but i easily got it out through my driver side door. all i did was align up my roof on the dash and manueverd it out of my door.

once you have got it out you will need to get your materials. (fabric, spray on glue, scissors or some form of cutting mechanism)

you will need to clean your current roof lining before applying the new one, just to ensure it sticks well

i found it easier to not cut my material until it was all glued on.

place the material on top of your roof lining and smooth it out to ensure you know how much you will need, make sure your new material is in all the crevices and spots it needs to be.

mark where the holes are needs and cut them out.

spray both your new material AND your roof lining, wait 30 seconds or until the adhesive is sticky and start from the bottom of the roof lining and work your way up to the top.

once it is all on smoothly then you can cut your new material to fit exactly to your roof lining..

i think its best to wait a bit for the adhesive to fully stick. once its set just chuck your new lining in the same way you got it out.

sorry if this was vague or hard to understand. pictures up soon
