DIY: Projector Retrofit

my order was put on backorder due to the angel eyes not being in stock so i just emailed them and hopefully can get the 6.0's.
i held off buying for like a month hoping for a sale or something new to come out and typically it happens 48 hours after i end up ordering

This is the new Morimoto Mini H1 6.0 beam cut off. Looks quite a bit better than the 5.0's (or at least mine). Light distribution looks quite nice, has a real nice sharp and colourful cut off which is what you want to get the exotic and desirable blue flicker to oncoming drivers.

You can see in a couple crappy pictures in the DIY post of my cut off. The right has a little bit of blue in the cut off and the left has basically no blue  I think Res said both of his didn't have any blue in his cut off. Did some research a while ago and seems like the 5.0's was a bit of a case of hit and miss with this. Hopefully the cut off colour is more consistent with the 6.0's.
That being said if you unfortunately don't get a nice colourful cut off it's not the end of the world. These projectors are amazing at lighting up the road, which is what headlights are meant to do, right? :)

just got this email:
Hi Trent

Thanks for your email. Since all backorders aren't even packed yet but the label is generated, you'll automatically get the newest parts by default.
Please let us know if we can answer any other questions or be of any additional assistance.
Thanks again Trent!

Andrew @ TRS
yay, i got 6.0's :D

so ive been thinking about doing this and i was wondering is the reflective surface ( in image^^^)attached to the glass or can it be seperated..

was thinking about doing this and painting the reflective part like a matte black or something to give it a bit more of a smooth finish to compliment the black area around the projectors

its not attached, check out res's build thread. he just did a retrofit and painted it black ;)

Yea you can separate it from the lens, a couple of screws on the inside is all you need to remove. You'll see once you open up the headlights.
As Trent said, res has done this.

A question: how much light spread is there above the cutoff?

With normal halogen lights, they tend to leak up and light up street sights, reflectors on poles and such things like that. Do the projectors do the same, but to a lesser degree?

And with highbeam, i presure it opens a flap in the projector, and then floods whatevers in front of the car in light?

above the cuttoff on the TRS ones there is ZER(0) light leak

and yeh hibeam just removes the cutoff and the light floods everything infront

Alright, cool.

Next question: 4300k or 5000k bulbs?

4,300Kelv for sure, the extra bit of warmth in the white is nice on they eyes and doesnt look scream aftermarket
5k's are aslo good but 4.3's my preferance

Yep absolutely zero light leak. You can see pics in my thread of the cut off somewhere in the last couple of pages.

I went 5000K and that's my preference. Pure white. Nice and modern. I don't think it screams aftermarket. I've driven past many cops with them and even followed one for a few k's on the highway. It's up to you.

Zero light leak hmm.. Does anything above the cutoff light up at all? e.g street signs and other reflective stuff above the cutoff

For me it does yea, not sure if that was coz my left projectors rotation was ever so SLIGHTLY too much clockwise, so it kicked up on the left a tiny tiny bit, but yea signs on the freeway reflect still.

I've written this in the first post man :) But I figured I wouldn't give the code coz the whole point of it is to make you visit their fb page and like it!
