well i decided to finally get of my ass and fix it so heres what i did:

IMG_1341.jpg

TOOLS: you will need some terps or meth, paint (i decided to get heat proof paint seeing as i was painting it black and it gets friggen hot in adeliade), primer, screw driver, rag, energy drink of choice in this case monster, 4 panadine extra filled with the highest amount of codeine over the counter witch is 15% and some news paper.

STEP 1:
start to remove everything so on the inside of the door panel where the side mirror is just remove the plastic covering and unscrew 3 screws the mirror should then come loose and then unplug the socket.

STEP 2:
undo the 3 screws on the bottom of the mirror then wrap the mirror up in paper.

STEP 3:
remove door window trim. it is quiet simple once the mirrors are off unscrew a little screw near the end of the door frame and lift the trim up till all four brackets pop off.

STEP 4:
mask of the door frame and wipe everything down with terps.

STEP 5:
once everything is prepped start to prime the surface with your primer. make sure you do lots of light coats.

STEP 6:
when its all well covered and dry then start to paint in your top coat. remember to do alot of thin coats to get the desired finish allow 24 hours before handling it depending on the paint so that it will properly cure.

and then your done :D

Re: DIY painting door trims.

Looks good. Mine are pretty grey at the moment. But I've heard that Meguiers (spelling?) Trim Detailer/Restore works pretty well too.

Re: DIY painting door trims.

Prob rename the thread to "Painting door pillars"

Door trims are the plastic thing on the inside of the door :)

hah true! i have no tint what so evar at the moment :/

also will rename it :D i knew it wasnt trim but i couldnt figure out what word it was :)

they look much nicer now. were they originally black or the car colour?

I want to make mine black. i've been thinking about it for ages, now i really want to do it!

Yeah they were originally black but just faded :/ i also pained the vents where the windscreen wipers connect because that faded grey. I decided I'm going to start restoring my car now insted of modifying it for a bit. I really like what you did with your bodykit lights. You do it yourself or bought the front bumper like that?

thanks dude.
i just bought some led strips off ebay and put them on the front lip. wired them in to the fog light wires dangling behind the bumper and found a fog light switch to turn them on.

Nah they look okay. I've fastened them down with zip ties which looks a bit dodge, other than that it's pretty good

Heh agreed. I did the DIY :p butttt I've done some dodgy *poo* to my car but this has actually come out really well it doesn't look bad :)
