Extremely easy "mod", done more just to have some reference pictures if you need them. 'Scuse the dirt - this was done as an afterthought with my spare console.

Requirements:
Manual CE Lancer/Rage
Phillips head screwdriver
Scissors/Pliers
New Gear boot
Small long ziptie

I got my boot from the UK as I believe most people that have done this have done. Works out to be around $20inc postage in the end.

1. Remove you centre console box (two screws in the main compartment).

2. Remove gear shift surround - there's two screws under where the centre console connects, one screw in each foot-well, two behind the head-unit surround. You'll also need to remove your gear knob (rotate anti-clockwise).

3. Flip the gear surround upside down, and undo the 4 screws holding in the boot bracket.

4. Poke the surround through so it's sticking out the wrong way.

5. Using pliers or scissors cut the cable tie holding the material onto the plastic grommit thingy.

6. Unhook the material from around the base, it's only lightly glued on so just give it a pull.

7. Reverse steps with the new boot.

8. ????

9. Profit?

Might be worth vacuuming under everything while you've got it all out. If your car is anything like mine its filthy under there .

Finished product (recommend getting a black knob () as it looks a bit strange with a greyish brown one haha).
