DIY - CJ Lancer Leather Interior Part 1

maybe its coz u just put them in, i know when i just put mine in they were really creased, but now after sitting in the sun and just over a day or 2 they have smoothed out heaps
is it an ebay kit?, im pretty sure mine was, and tbh they are quite good for the price, and they last considering mine was 2nd hand and still looks brand new

Ahhh ok, I never realised leather shrunk that much!

With the X-Factor ones they are quoted as "Italian Automotive Leather" do you know Tryg if they are bonded or hide?

I'm wanting bonded because I really can't be bothered looking after proper hide and having to clean and condition it, etc...

for the price, they would not be hide.. impossible. The cheapest I have seen a full-hide 5-seat retrim is $3000.

If you consider that most (read=75%) of leather lounge suites over the last 15 years have been reconstituted leather (bonded leather), then you can see how popular this stuff is..

And yes, the byproduct of owning lesser bonded leather is the zero maintenance requirement, as Ryan states correctly.

Nice DIY.

I was quoted around $1500 to have all my coupe's seats done and that wasn't leather, add about 50% more for that, so well over $2k.
Even though I now have a 2nd seat of seats for the rear I'm still toying with what to do as they are not spotless.

Something like this might be the solution, really hope they are still around 3 years later...
