At the moment this is a work in progress that i hope to have finished by next week.

We shall begin with differences between the FTO and the CE, that will need to be changed.

Using an FTO harness as the base and taking connectors from the Lancer interior harness. The FTO harness splits into Dash, Interior, Rear, roof, engine bay left, engine bay right, door loom left and right. I will be using Roof, Dash and Interior, along with the two engine bay looms.

1. The door loom connectors are different on either side and neither are the same as the CEs connector.
Fix. Cut the connectors from your existing CE interior loom and solder them onto the FTO harness noting colours.

Fix. Cut and solder CE connectors on.

Fuel Connector wires are as follows, FTO to CE.
BL - BO is Fuel pump relay
B - B is Earth
Y - RW is fuel guage
LY - RB is fuel warning light

3. The Power steering line, from rack to pump, is different the the CE.
Fix. Replace the line with one from an FTO, it is a bolt in.

4. The A/C lines, Condenser are different, the Regulator is also in a different position, residing up near the left side strut tower.
Fix. Get A/C lines, Condenser from an FTO, and make an adaptor plate to bolt on to the strut tower to hold the regulator. The Condenser will not fit using existing mounts, so take the bottom mounts off the CE condenser and bolt them to the FTO condenser, then snap off and file the original mount. You can use an earlier condenser, one of them uses the right A/C lines. The thin A/C line from condenser to regulator, needs to be bent into submission.

5. The radiator is the fill point for coolant on a CE, where the FTO uses the coolant manifold? as a fill point.
Fix. Get the filler on the FTO cut off and welded shut.

6. The radiator overflow bottle from the CE will not fit if you use the FTO condenser.
Fix. Bend the pipe on the condenser, or mount the overflow bottle elsewhere.

8. The Head light, is split into 3 plugs, whereas the CE uses two.
Fix. Join the connectors.

9. The FTO uses a switch in the ignition barrel to allow the starter motor to crank.
Fix. Join the two wires so the switch is engaged all the time.

There is more i will add as i remember.

What you need

FTO Halfcut

Tools

Engine crane
Socket set
Torque wrench
Vice grips
Pliers
Side cutters
Soldering iron
Pry bars
Hammer
wire strippers
Jack
jack stands
helper

Before the swap starts and during take photos of key points, connectors and the outlay of each. It is advisable to use a label maker to mark each connector. Bag bolts, nuts and hardware.

THe first step is to strip your FTO halfcut. Once your Engine is out remove the auto you most likely got it with. I advise changing your timing belt, timing belt bearings, water pump and spark plugs at least.
