DIY ce lancer blue dash lights

the T5 lights around the 100-120km/hr mark from memory

i would check ur T10's first

ok so i got around to doing my dash in white LEDs and all was easy except those aircon lights! I cant pull it out without taking off the whole dash so ive tried getting it with needle nosers but they dont want to budge. any tips?

they dont twist like the others, get a small flat head screw driver and push down on them, the bulbs will likely break on the way out but the socket will be fine
it does take a bit of roughness the first time as they are a beach and stuck in good

Do you get many dull spots, I did mine, it's a bright in some places and dull in others.
Might be the lights I bought :?

I got a dull spot on the start of the speedo. I guess from around 0-60 and it get progressively brighter until the 200. I think its the t5 that does that area. I might try to find a brighter one. The Fuel and temp look great. All nice and white. Ive got the cluster without the tacho btw.

Ive changed my cluster to blue, 1st doing it with the 3mmx4 T10 LED's and found they are to bright and they are directional. The SMD or chip LED's are wide angle and spread the light across the whole cluster pretty even now. Im still waiting on my T5's to do the centre controls. This DIY is handy though, as I thought them centre controls where a twist set up.

hi guys,

Thank you very much for the above DIY. You cant get any better than this.

I have a question, I know now that I need to get the T10 and T 5 LED for my Mitsubishi Lancer 2000 2 Dr coupe. Can i go for LED or SMD bulbs instead of the current bulbs, If yes what are they called i mean T10, T5 any number. Cos i searched for the T10 and T5 they say its not the same as mine when I sent my current pics. So wondering are there any numbers with the T10 and T5 like T10 194 etc etc.

Thank you very much for replying.

i don't think it matters, you can get a different shaped bulb or led setup and it won't make any difference other than how the light is distibuted. i would recommend buying the smd led's through ebay as you will get them cheapest and you can see the design you're getting. for instance type t10 smd led white or whatever colour you want, and buy them that way. the best kind to get, especially for the t5's is the concave ones like these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-White..._Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a78a2bfde&_uhb=1

all the best with the install :)

I am having alot of trouble with the air control lights does anyone have any tips on how to get the lights out?

I just have the globe holder a wiggle with some angled long nose pliers and it was enough leverage to get them out. They were just a bit too tight to do by hand.

I made the mistake of only buying T10s for the cluster, not realising that some were T10 and some were T5 (currently have indicators, seat belt light, door light and high beam indicator LED blue. Before I get T5s to complete the rest (speedo, fuel gauge etc) I wanted to know if the knob on the far right of the dash that adjusts the brightness of the stock lights has the same effect with the LEDs? I'm assuming it wouldn't which is why I haven't rushed for the T5s yet.

Spot on, the dimmer switch will only work on the bulb / globe styles because the LED's only have an on and off position.
You adjust to the brightness of an LED dash fairly quick though.
Its worth grabbing somes spares as the LED's are prone to failure from what iv seen (brand dependent)

It still dims for me and I use pink t5 and t10 LEDs. Always has through every colour I try. The types I've used are dome, wide angle crystal and SMDs and they've all dimmed.
