DIY Angel Eye Projector installs

Bought angel eyes off Ebay U.S and thought id do a small tutorial on how to install them cause they arnnt direct bolt on, there is a few differences.

for one, the location of parking lights on old set are actually location of high beams on new set. and to get the LED parker lights working you have to wire them into the old parking light wires. quite easy and only took 20 minutes.

taking headlights off should be easy, three bolts, two on the top and one on the side, to get the lights out for indicators you twist, and for the others just unplug.

Ok here is the rear of the angel eyes, the red and black long wires are the parker LED wires, the black power switch attaches into the old headlight socket.

This is the old parking light adapter that attaches onto the old lights, i cut off the plastic adapter and exposed the wires. (if you accidentally touch these wires, when the car has the park lights on, you will blow a fuse. i know cause it happened to me, easy fix, flip off fuse box and its the top 10A red one.)

Just stripped the wires, and connected with a bit of solder and then taped it, fair simple black to black, red to green:)

attach the main plug to the headlights, and insert the indicator the same as you pulled it out, and you are done:)

isnt there another little LED light on the inside side of the projector when looking at the car? how does that get wired in?

hey mate,

not on this model.

there is the headlight projector, high beam globe, indicator and the LED lights surrounding main projector.

the headlight projector is encased, and is connected by the main plug to the original main headlight.
the high beam is connected through the main plug aswell.
the indicators are direct swap
the LED lights surrounding the main projector attach by splitting the original parking light leads.

i was unaware there were different models sorry :-/ hope that helps

With mine i gutted all wiring and split the h4 connector into two h3's and then hooked the angel eyes onto an switch off the cig lighter so they are always on when the car is unless otherwise stated.

ahh that would have been a smart idea. how do you know which wire? or did you just trial and error? id probably stuff it and have them running 24/7.

so you use them as like DRL's? thats cool, i want to do that! but ill probably need help tho :/ do you have that little LED parker on yours dex? if i get some with that i could use that as the parker light and have the angel eyes on all the time like DRLs

i havent got around to testing them at night but as far as i know, im assuming they are equal height or LHD.

Cant remember off hand but the one spade on the h4 is the common earth (thickest wire) and the other two are the positive for hi and lo. Then you just need to wire the common earth to both h3's and the hi lo inputs to the appropriate h3's. works well - low beam works, and high beam comes on and low beams turns off. So yeh my angels are DRL's which i flick off along with some other switches to enter stealth mode when cops are around :D

LED parker....I used them one my old headlights and had blue ones, first time i got RBT'd the cop told me to switch them back to normal, so i switched over to the white ones which are still slightly blue. These projector lights dont have parkers as the angels are supposed to be the parkers - so i essentially dont have parkers.....but if you feel like modding you can throw an LED in the casing.

As with alignment I am not sure about RHD and LHD, but i adjusted them to be low and level and seems to no leak over to the other lane. I also use white halogen h3's and no HIDS - A. because they are lame and when a globe/ballast blows its a PITA, B. Cop bait and more likely to get ur expensive headlamps defected C. I dont like the ridiculously high voltage in my engine bay D. they need to be warmed up C. More expensive.....list goes on

Wait, why have u got the parkers to a seperate switch? I drive around with my angel eye parkers on all the time and i never have cop trouble? Also, do those u.s angel eyes have resisters and a diode already installed with those leds? I have heard they eventually burn out, happened to josh with the black commo ute wen he had his lancer im pretty sure

And for the HID's using " they have to heat up" as an excuse is dumb cause that takes like 5 seconds max, they use less amperage than normal globes too, and u have projectors so you can properly use them. Easily a better choice imo. And when i got defected i left my HID's on and they didnt do me for em either.

Separate switch so i can turn them on and off and also so that i wont accidentally leave them on when car is off. Better for them to come on and off with the ignition. My angel eyes have a resistor/ diode pack....if they eventually burn out no biggy ill either replace them or be angel eyeless no fussed.

Heating up is a pain cause it kills them if you decide to flick them at a car infront of you for shtie driving or if u see a camera etc. Rest of my points are valid....i rather a few extra amps than a few thousand extra volts. I've grown out of HIDs and imo they are show ponyish and every daewoo and the next blinds me with his fully sick 6000k bulbs so i dont want to be classed under that.

hids and projectors <3
will never go back

havent used my angels in about 3 years now... should have got them in white/yellow instead of blue... damn 16 year old self from the past

nope... need new everythings
now its going to annoy you for the rest of the headlights life that they are the tinyest bit imperfect

I wasn't actually aware that Angels were illegal?

and as for using them as DRL's mine didn't seem bright enough to be noticed, or maybe i wasnt looking at them from the right height/angle of an oncoming car :/ although i did buy the cheapest chrome ones at $199.

I didn't read all the posts so my apologies if this has been covered, but if you bought these from the US they are designed for LHD cars which would make them illegal here in Aus as they shine the wrong way.
I read before there is a mod you can do to them to make them suitable for RHD but do not know exactly what this entails. Have you done this?

ohhk LHD RHD issue makes sense being illegal, mine are deffs LHD, the high beam is dead straight so thats not too much of an issue but the normal headlights definitely spill over the right hand side lane, and there is no light going off the the left hand lane.
