Cold air intake for $5

Put my stock box back in got a brand new K&N Panel Filter, took the extension from the air box to the resonator out and put the tube in its place and taped from the inside so it looks nicer and means i get absolutely no hot air inside my engine. Has much better flow now as the filter is amazing compared to stock plus the cold air is an upgrade regardless as by default it would suck air from the right of the battery, at the other end of the resonator.

Final Result :D

No longer a $5 CAI I'm gathering. Now you've basically got the same thing others have written about on here. Have you had any problems with the plastic tube staying connected to your filter box? From above it might look fine but feel underneath to see if it's pulled away and left a gap where hot air will get sucked in.

It's still a $5 cold air intake(to make it a cold air intake from stock air box)

i changed the filter to K&N as my stock filter had been sitting in the cupboard for about 6 months and didnt know what was in it.

From above it looks like its not sealed and hot air can still get in, i can take a pic of inside the air box where i taped it up to seal it. just wanted it to look nice from the outside.

Check out my CAI in this link......... First of all, here's a link to my pics........... http://www.fordmods.com/gallery.php?uid=49942&mid=0

Ok so I started this thread to give you guys n girls some ideas as to how to go about modifying your intake.
Altho my mod was supercheap n effective you may want to spend more or have different ideas but this is just for an example and I'm quite happy with it actually for the cost of the project :)

Ok So I used a funnel from a servo ( when I'd seen the funnel it sprung an idea haha) which only cost me $8 also a piece of 80mm PVC pipe from the hardware shop which was about $15 for bout a foot length and two cans of spray paint.

I started my mod by removing my intake up to the manifold eg. Box, pipes, rubber ducting etc. And cutting a hole in the bottom front of the airbox. I'd cut the funnel first to give myself the diameter I wanted and to make fit behind left head light (as I found a cold air source there). I put the funnel against the airbox where I wanted it and marked a loop to drill out. Now to attach the funnel, I used some spare hinges I'd bought n didn't need but you can use whatever suits your needs

Well the airbox is now done except for paint, so Its on to the intake pipe. I painted the PVC black but obviously whatever colour you want haha and attached it to the ducting. Inserted it into the top of the box to make sure it all fits together properly . Once dummy fitted I disassembled the setup, painted the box (and the rocker cover with the same heat proof paint) reassembled and its time for the heat shield (as its a cold air. induction CAI ). now I just used a thick piece of rubber attained from work but its really up to the individual couple tech screws to hold it in place and cut around snorkel input. BEFORE PUTTING SCREWS INTO TOP OF AIRBOX I REMOVED FILTER SO CRAP DIDN'T GO INTO THE INTAKE PIPE.

So there you have a very cheap mod if your on a tight budget like me atm haha

All my mod pics are here ......... http://www.fordmods.com/gallery.php?uid=49942&mid=0

I do apologise for absence of pictures but my phone won't upload pics on forum only in gallery :( feel free to comment :) .
