CM5A swap

Hey all, I’ve bought a 4g93t dohc from the ce gsr which I plan to swap into my ce coupe

Has anyone on here done this swap? Love to hear what the process was like and any issues I might run into, extra parts I might need etc.

really excited to complete the swap and would really appreciate any help

cheers :)

Probably the most important two things.

You can still use the AWD box if you have it, but you’ll need to get a FWD lock kit. Otherwise cheaper and easier, use a 93 sohc box, but you’ll need to modify the clutch slave to suit. And down the track a LSD will work wonders when you’re ready to splash some cash.

ECU wise, you can use a 93 sohc plastic case and get it flashed, or tune it yourself if your in to that sort of thing. Otherwise a stand alone would also have other benefits depending how far you intend to take it.
Mine had the original metal case ecu when I got it, but I’m now running a plastic case one since we upgraded the turbo.

Apart from that, everything is pretty easy bolt in. We had mine in and running in less than 10 hours on a Saturday including pulling out the 4G15.

That’s great as I was planning on using my current gearbox anyway, how does the clutch slave need to be modified?? Does anybody make a kit or is it something I’ll be doing myself??

The 4g93 sohc clutch slave fouls on the turbo inlet snout, so the entire slave needs to move up or down an inch or two. Alternatively, a new exhaust manifold and turbo will get would this with a careful selection of parts
