Changing gearbox oil

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone had had any experience in changing the gearbox oil on their lancer.

I vaguely know how to go about it through some stuff I have found on the net (its just related to other cars).

If someone can possibly post up some troubles they had, stuff I should watch out for, their own process they went through whatever really would be good.

Cheers

it's a *mummy* to get the oil in.

So to pour the oil in (side of housing) i got the end of a silicone gun (new, the plastic bit that a nozzle) and piece of hose and a funnel placed the three together and made life easier.

haha yeah I've heard it's a bastard to do. Also heard of using a big syringe (bought from supercheap etc).

Thanks.

That's what the Mitsubishi worksop memory for the CJ says to do from memory.

I'm assuming the CE will be similar to the CJ with a drain plug at the bottom and a breathing/refilling plug at the top...

Instead of starting a new thread - thought i'd revisit this.

the gears have been crunching the odd occasion in my car - will changing the gearbox oil fix this?

Yeah, you can buy certain types of oil for older boxes and it helps immensely.

I have vague recollections of someone telling me about this anyway.... :p

** Some oils you buy have the filler and pump on them which is handy.

I've heard good things about Nulon havent tried it though. Does it only happen when starting in the morning ??

**** Dont over tighten the bolts otherwise you will strip the internal thread
*****And Use the right spanner otherwise you will strip the plugs ( Ive done this a few times)

In saying that, get a decent set of scanners and sockets and they'll be better and last you forever...

I had cheap ones and even they rounded the bolts slightly when using the right sized one, but then I bought a JBS set from Blackwoods and they are great.
