CH 4g69 zero compression

Hi there new member here, last week I scored this little ch sedan with the 4g69 as a non runner.

Long story short old owners newly licenced son was driving with a leaking radiator, ran out of coolant, kept driving until it didnt anymore, got it towed home and it sat for 3 years. Fast forward till now my boss tells me about said car and I go pick it up for a couple of hundred dollars.

Battery in, turn key and zero compression at all, oil doesnt have coolant in it, timing belt is still turning.

So I suppose the question I have is (I have an old school holden and toyota background this is relatively new to me) whats the probability the bottom end is ruined, or is getting the head machined a new top end gasket kit within reach, or am I better off waiting for another car to come up at the salvage auctions to yank an already running engine from?

And also Is there a difference between auto and manual engines in the event I do get another wreck? (I ask this because i found the hard way years ago that on a series one holden v6 the flywheel bolt pattern was different from auto to manuals.)

All in all apart from the obvious issue looking over it it was well loved, a lot of the suspension seems realtively new, new tyres and brakes, mint interior, etc.

Auto and manual are the same crank.
The drama with this engine is that the head may have been overheated so far that the alloy in the head can go soft and the rings sound like they have no sealing left. A cooling system pressure test and then a cylinder leak down test will give more answers as to the next steps.
