CE2 Convert to Original CE Bodykit

Hey guys just wondering what is involved in changing the facelifted CE2's to the original CE Lancer bumpers- as i prefer that original style. Im eighteen and have formerly done a resto on a 77 holden (was VERY rusty) so i am very familiar with body repairs and modifications (rust cutting and custom body repairs).

So, is it a straight bumper swap or do i have to change the bonnet, lights etc? all looks much the same, ANY help or suggestions will be appreciated!

Wich bumper do u mean? From a ce3 ( circle fogs ) to a ce1/2 ( triangle fogs ) you need to change the rheo as well

Yeh dude, from the circular to the triangle lamps. so its sounding pretty promising, just what do you mean by rheo?? Im a new owner of a 02 CE

Okay, so the frame work underneath the bumpers- On my old car i had to do a rust repair on the frame supporting the headlights and bumper, and that was very easy to access and remove. Can't imagine that being anything more than bolt on and off. Cheers man

Also wondering how much a front bar would set me back? $120? is it best to pick one up from a wreckers or can they be bought new? From anyone with past experience on bumper replacement whats the best way to go? Cars silver

My reply about sums it up.

cool, sounds like the way to go for a new one. I'll keep my eye out on a used one, but ultimately (from reading your post) I'll take the easy route for a new one.

If a good second hand one drops in your lap quickly then go for it.
But if like in my experience and it takes a while, then better of getting new.

Good luck

I guess that means I need a CE 1 Rheo bar as well before I change mine over? :wtf:
I was hoping it was a straight swap!

Hi,

Sorry for digging out the old thread.

What was the conclusion? Does CE bumper fit into CE2 without major modification? I saw the CE has some reinforcement. Do I need to these reinforcement as well?

CE 1 reo is different to CE2/3 in shape only, but they slide on and bolt up exactly the same into the front chassis rail.

So if you want a CE1 front bar, get the bar and reo bar, CE2/3... Get CE2/3 front bar and reo bar, mount and be happy such as I am
