CE lancer wagon ecu / immobiliser

Hi guys,

I've done an engine transplant from a CE wagon 4g93 manual into a proton jumbuck. I've used the lancer engine harness and after a lot of trying, I still can't get it to run. The ce lancer wagon continued with the same engine configuration as the cc lancer, while the sedan and coupe engine was turned around.

These are the symptoms:
* CEL comes on with ignition, goes off after a few seconds, then comes back on and stays on for as long as the key is on. I can't connect to it with a obd scanner - won't find the Ecu.
* The engine turns over, and I have spark and fuel. The injectors have power to them and it will run with aerostart. But I have no injector pulse. If I earth the injectors with a jumper, they do spray.
Im pretty confident the wiring has been connected up correctly. I read somewhere that you could jump 2 wires on the ecu, mfi and a/c so I tried this too and it didn't make a difference.

So, my questions are:

Would the ce lancer wagon after '96 have had an factory fitted immobiliser fitted?

If it did have an immobiliser, and asuming I can't get the original key or transponder or immobiliser box, is there a way to remove the immobiliser function in the Ecu given this is a metal case ecu and I have read that they can't be reprogrammed?

In theory could I just use an earlier cc lancer 4g93 ecu, one that didn't have an immoboliser?

Will another 3 plug ecu work with the 4g93 long enough for me to test it? ie. One from a 4g63 or 4g15? I imagine it would have to have the same type of ignition system at least.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rick.

This is a number one evidence of imob being the issue.

Yes. The 96+ CE sedan/coupe/hatch all had imobs, so if your engine/ecu/imob was from that, it would be the issue.

Cant reprogram the metal case ECUs at all unfortunately, you might be able to use the earlier CC ECU instead though, but im not sure how that would work. @rigby may have info?

ECU will have the mapping from that engine only. If a 4G15 ECU could run a 4g93 engine, it would have issues with ignition events, and fueling, at a minimum.

Thanks so much for the reply donki and unfortunately it's confirmed what I have been thinking has been the issue.

Just thought I'd give you an update, I got another ecu from a '95 (supposedly) 4g93 and it fired up, but only on cylinders 1 and 2. It seems the CE wagon ecu runs sequential injection and the earlier ecu is semi-sequential. Once I'd joined together injectors 1 and 3, 2 and 4 it worked fine.
