CE Lancer Possible Engine Conversions

So, I've found an engine and should have it in about 2 weeks. 6a13tt. $1500 w ecu, loom and dash... Anyone live in Perth that could give a hand installing it? More than happy to pay. All the guys down here are saying it's a huge job and to "bash the firewall" however I'm sure it doesn't have to literally be done like that.
Thanks again

Yes it literally needs a sledge taken to the firewall.

Among other added bits and pieces

hey everyone, have read through all 7 pages and havent really been able to find a 100% answer about the 4G63T going in a CE Lancer.

Currently have a standard 1.5 4G15 sohc 2 door CE lancer and have been offered a 4G63T VR4 Cyclone from a mate.

Would this fit/bolt in??

Cheers

Sorry not exactly an expert by a long shot ahaha - main thing afaic is that everything is around the wrong way. Easiest way to tell is looking at the engine from the front what side are the drive belts on? CE ones are on the left, CC/CA etc. are on the right. It is technically possible but a pain in the ass and not worth it.

Quoteing Skippy from another thread:
...the engines flipped in orientation when the CE's started being made.
Does this mean it can't be done? No, you can re do all the mounts in the engine bay, but this is a big job etc etc.
So this means your gearbox mount is on the drivers side not passenger and that the side engine mount is on the passenger side not drivers side...

found another link on here explaining it, thanks heaps but. defiantly not the way to go. think maybe 4G93T is the way to go.

I agree

Same issue as with the CC era 63t - wrong orientation. Anything pre 1995(?) is wrong orientation. Some models overlap so its not a rule.

Do what i did recently and swap an 4G93E Engine in there it bolts in perfectly if you have the mounts along with the donor engine you get. I had a complete Auto Lancer MR donor car i striped for everything i needed but i had to mess around with the looms and source a 7 Bolt flywheel & complete Exedy clutch kit etc. Try and source a manual if you can maybe do some head port work while you are at it like i did and get a few extra KW. It will be the most economical solution for you most probably and the 4G93E block has potential for many future modifications.

I agree with Res and the other members above it is what i have done and it is completely worth it if you have some mechanical skills and have worked around cars a bit and have the tools you should be fine if not that is why we are here to help...

Re: Best Engine to use for CE Engine swap Price/Performance

unless you have $10k+ dont even think, thats just for a basic cm5a

and theres no such thing as a 2L mivec, its a 2.4L and its a huuuuuuuuge **** around
im just wondering how the 4g92 mivec can put out only 20hp less than a 4g93t

donki only the 4g93T (turbo version) has 143kw the stock 4g93 from the mr lancer (1.8) is only 88kw. im wanting to do a 92 mivec topend swap on my 93

Hence why I said "4g93/cm5a" and not 4g93 ;-)
