CE Lancer Possible Engine Conversions

Sooo... im getting a 6a12mivec from someone next week and my plans are to turbo the motor before dropping it in. Is this possible? Will it fit? Yes i only want to run 7psi. Yes i want 5 stud setup.

My questions are as follows, the fto motor is auto so will the fto loom be able to be spliced to work? Or will i need another and will the 6a12m auto flywheel bolt up to a 4g93 gearbox? What else do i need to get from the fto basically is my question.

I'd say get the motor in and running before your worry about trying to boost it. If you are doing a manual conversion you will need a flywheel to suit. Why 7psi?

7psi is the maximum to have a car engineered in NSW. You will need;
- Power steering line from rack to pump
- A/C lines
- throttle cable
- all ancillaries
- fuel filter to rail hose
- Engine harness
- ECU
- interior harness
- cluster (lancer will not read correct RPM)
- Y section from exhaust and catalytic converter aswell as exhaust gas sensors
- Radiator hoses

For manual you will need either 6A12 or 4G93 trans, Flywheel from a G93 will bolt on but the clutch isn't as strong as an FTO setup (something to do with angle of pressure plate, had it explained to me a while ago can't quite remember). The standard radiator fans are too thick to use with the V6, you will need to switch to slimline or not run A/C. Pretty sure most of that's correct, it's been awhile.

There are extremely few boosted 6A12 Mivec's in the world. If an FTO gets boosted people usually use the non-mivec versions. As for getting it boosted. As AB said, get the engine in and running. I have seen more than a few people buy all the pieces and fail to complete it for a variety of reasons. I'm all for home built, but there's a huge amount of work that no-one can walk you through if you decide to turbo that. Just keep that in mind. Also, creating manifolds and IC piping would be a little bit difficult if you do it entirely in theory. Aswell as engineering...Good luck with that.

Yeeeaar thats the main problem haha no frigen room. But i have alot of time on my hands no license so no joy.

Yes my g93 gearbox is in pretty bad shape anyways so might invest in the 6a12box if you think it is better for the power.

What about the these parts. Ecu, loom, dash cluster, can i use the auto one and somehow convert them to manual? Manual fto's are becoming very hard to find :(

The standard 6A box has a taller first gear and possibly FD, so there's no reason why i'd go for one over a 93 box. Unless it has an LSD, which only came on GPvR's from memory. Yes you can convert the Auto looms to to run manual. The only thing stopping it from working is the Park Isolator switch. Just bridge the wires from that and you should be good to go. Key word, 'should'. About 2-3 years ago I did the swap with an auto loom and i'm pretty sure that's all I changed. Aswell as using a manual cluster. An auto one will work fine, but you will have non-functional PRND lights.

Already paid for the motor :( but now im thinking its going to be easier to get an evo engine later haha have fun with the mivec until off my p's then look at an evo 4-5-6 wreak and convert to awd :)

can you drive a turbo on your p's.
4g69 is an absolute beast with sooo much grunt, i think people are missing a really good option. I bought an 07 cs manual crashed from pickles actions and swapped the whole kit over engine, gearbox, abs, rear disc brakes and wiring loom. My car is track only so no rego problems but this conversion is awsome. The wrecks are going quite cheaply from act, newcastle and dubbo. Prices were heaps bigger from sydney. This is not a conversion for the inexperienced though as there is some fairly major fab work for the accelerator pedal. The abs conversion was a major pain in the kneck too, drilling 22mm holes for speed sensors nearly killed me. I havn't had any track time yet but i am hoping for close to 200kph at smsp.

Any non-stock swap or major engine modification is illegal to drive on P's (in NSW, and AFAIK most if not all other states). This is regardless of the 130kw/tonne rule, or the naturally aspirated rule or whatever. Even if your car still fits under the rules that apply to stock cars allowed on P's, if it didn't come like that from factory then its still a no go. In the end it is not feasible for the RMS to go around and test whether your modified car actually meets the standards stock P plate allowed cars do.

Was it a straight swap for the 2.4 as im looking to put a 4g69 in my ou mirage n wanna know whats involved.

I bought a complete car that had been crashed from pickles auctions. It's not a simple swap but it can be done cheaply. I used the whole wiring loom out of the cs lancer and the only mods to the loom was for the rear lights. I used the fuel tank and lines and the wiper motor out of the lancer. The challenging mods were getting the accelerator pedal to work, the wiring loom laid out neatly and working out the steering column and key arrangement. Drivers side engine mount is out of a ce 1.8 turned upside down. I also had to drill a new hole in the body to the right height. The other mounts are off the 4 g15 and the 69. I reused the bottom cross member from the rage. I used the gearbox and driveshafts from the lancer. The selector cables are reused from the rage.

Ok sweet i was thinking of buying the hole car but try n use the 1.8 wiring harness and ecu with the 2.4 motor but remap it and tune it

Mapping and tuning. 4g69 ecu should work fine assuming you work out how to pin it and the engine loom to your interior loom

Wondering if a 6A12 Mivec conversion would be a more feasible swap than a 4G92 Mivec conversion in Australia?: considering price, availability, complexity.
