Ce Lancer bogging down under hard accel/throttle

Having a weird issue that the last owner was chasing for months. A lot of the time the car drives perfectly, aside from the occasional stumble when idling (very rare will sometimes just miss once or twice).
However every so often the car has an issue, it only occurs once or twice a month but it goes on for a few days before disappearing again for a while. When this happens, the car will bog down and try to stall, the tone of the intake noise gets much deeper and I have to back off the throttle to stop it (and it drives normally unless I am decently hard on the throttle).
The car has a pod filter and thats about it, the plugs, coilpacks and fuel filter have all been changed. Only things I can think of are injectors, fuel pump or a filthy fuel tank but this wouldnt explain why it happens so inconsistently. If anyone has had this issue or has any ideas please let me know. (Also looking for a dirt cheap set of coilovers and maybe some 15" wheels so I can run AD80Rs if anyone knows where to get some or has any I can cop. Cheers.

Any CEL pop up? Given youve said the coilpacks have changed, i assume its a 4G93, so the MAF will be the #1 point to check - have a glance at it, check for any bent fins, or excessive dust covering any of the sensors

No CEL pops up and the MAF seems fine upon visual inspection. I could try grab a new MAF if theyre not too expensive.

Looks like you have covered most stuff, sometimes dirty or over oiled pod filters can cause problems downstream (ie maf sensor) but I would think that would be more consistent than couple times month, did you check coil packs, plugs?
I had similar problem, drove me crazy, no code thrown, I cleaned throttle and maf sensor, still kept happening randomly, Only happened when I put the foot down, car would hesitate, almost to point of engine stopping, only way fix was to back off, and accelerate slowly (drive normally !) it didn’t do it all the time which made problem solving fun yeah… nah
In desperation I bought new maf, problem solved, no problems since, it seems that maf sensors on their way out are problematic before they throw a code, just to piss you off I guess.
Like donki said, get new maf and try it, solve two problems, might find out for sure if if is the maf faulty on way out or worst case scenario you have a spare maf when needed

MAF Fixed the issue. While I'm here, does anyone know of a parts list for a rear disk conversion? Getting to my wits end with these drums that do nothing after 2 corners.

I have had issues with TPS sensors in my car literally 4 of them so far!! so I don't know if you have a wiring gremlin causing issues like me, perhaps?
