Bodykits on CF Lancers?

Hey All,

Finally in the position to outright buy a new car, I see a fair few low K Lancer ES Sport & LS CF options with under 30k kms for 17k to 20k, Look like a great pickup for a reliable car but I would honestly love to make it look a bit meaner but all that’s available is evo or performance clones for evo kits.

I know up badging is generally hated on and I don’t want to pretend it’s an EVO but a real EVO is well out of my price range and I’m not performance focused right now, by the time it is in range I doubt there will be a great deal of low km options, I’d rather buy the car now and look to add some customisation over the next few years and just have a nice daily driver that I like the look of more.

Am I too in the wrong for wanting to do this or is the general consensus going to be a clown move?

If I go through with the purchase I’ll just add a nice lip, lower it, Tint it and keep it stock until for a bit and then look at the costs to install and paint a front & rear bumper is still well below any EVO.

Would love any input and thoughts or am I overthinking a bit

There is nothing wrong with what you are proposing to do.

Many people do what you are wanting to do (myself included).

I think you need to find a balance between upgrading your car, and not going over the top and making it look like its come out of the 2F2F movie.

When we buy a car, most people have a budget, and it's sensible to buy what you feel is a good deal/can afford, and upgrade over-time what annoys you.

Like you said, start with more minor things like window tint, VRX or lip style spoiler, 18 inch rims and then take it from there.
Lots of people upgrade the front/tail lights to aftermaket LED's which can look pretty dope... though can cost a bit of $$.

Then can focus on bigger engine/performance or body upgrades if you want to go down that route.

I still remember putting window tint on my car and seeing the big difference it made. Just take it a day at a time. :)
