just wanted to get your opinions on which would be the best engine for a CE swap starting from cheapest easiest to best engine possible while not having to reinforce the chassis. just curious about prices, practicality, difficulty and what kind of power i would start to see. Mod: JUST A NOTE...

As someone who’s had a DOHC engine for a while I’ll say they’re overrated.
I’d go as far as saying it’s not worth the effort given the cost.
And also save yourself the drama of finding parts, ordering parts… then there’s waiting for them to come from overseas as none of it was domestically released here.
I enquired about a pair of DOHC cams for mine so I can up the power, go a bigger turbo and the cams alone were almost 2K.
You could build a pretty hot SOHC motor for the same money and have it well prepped for a turbo. Or do a 2.4 and have those extra cubes.
Anyway, if you’re willing to bleed money for a bit of DOHC cool that won’t give you much more power with hard to get parts. This is the way.
