Air con issues

Hi all. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. But my air con knob (the one to select demister etc.) Springs back whenever I try to turn it. Therefore I cannot demist the windscreen or change it to face/ feet etc. I can hear their blowing but cannot tell where to. Thanks in advance.

Has been covered, but i dont think straight up without crap in the thread.

I will most likely be the wire/cable behind the controls. Each knob is connected with wire, that pulls or pushed the directional flaps. Most likely yours has come out of its tracks or unhooked somewhere

Would turning the airflow right down low or off, before changing switch position help. less pressure.

Contemplating removing the pollen filter from my aircon: CJ lancer. More air less noise? Warranty? all previous cars didn't have one and no worries.

Can if you want.
Yes better airflow = colder air as more air is passing through the evaporator.

But keep in mind, its a good idea, as less crap blows on your face, but also, less crap builds up on the face of the evaporator.

If you get a build up of dirt and dust on the face of the evaporator it hardens and reduces flow over time.

Resulting in poor airflow and minimal cooling.
It'd be like having a blocked filter but not easily accessible and no longer easy/cheap to fix.
So as you can imagine id recomend against it.

We do alot of truck evaporators as they are around alot of quarrys where dirt in the air is the norm, and over years the airflow is reduced to almost nothing due to a build up of dirt and dust over the evaporator.

Heres a pic as an example

As you can imagine airflows not good.
