Advise for a friend on a CC GSR

Hey guys,

An old friend of mine who lives up in QLD is interested in getting into a Mitsubishi.

He asked me about this, but I got no idea.

Looks a bit of a basket case to me.

thoughts ?
Is your friend good with tools?

It's cheap enough, especially considering its got an evo 4G63, most CC swaps use VR4 4G63's. The engine alone would get $2500-$3000 if its got decent compression and not a leaky POS

It'd make a nice track car when fixed up, but if I were him I'd budget 5k on top of the purchase price as I'd want to completely service the engine, he'll need a new flywheel (the part about the incorrect flywheel likely means its still running the stock GSR box) and a new clutch (if the old one wasn't gripping properly it'll be covered in scores and heat spots). New suspension by the sounds of it, and it was running a microtec so probably running the standard evo ecu which would be fine for the time being.

The body, and according to the author the interior are 'average' so in real life terms '*poo*'

Unless your friend is confident with changing clutches, suspension and doing gaskets and seals then I'd stay away.

If he's good with tools/knows what he's doing it should be alright. Otherwise I think he'd be better off looking for something more complete.

Thanks guys, pretty much what I thought.
I'd probably strip it out and track it myself, but even then it looks like it needs some love. Looks pretty unloved and neglected.
