94 Lancer Idle Problem

Hi everyone, One of my mates suggested this place for a bit of help.

My car is a 94 CC Lancer with a 4g92 SOHC engine and I am getting the occasional problem of the engine revving when it is at idle.

I've been told to get a new throttle body and idle motor however I can't find them any cheaper then $400 for just the kit.

Does anyone know where in Brisbane is the best place to get second hand ones or does anyone have one that they want to sell.

Thanks for any help.

4g92? o_O cool.

second hand idle motors are around $250 for parts + installation at a mechanic and $500 + installation brand new.

You could always go to the wreckers and ask them to dismantle one for you and buy it off them if they have one at all.

Depending where you live there are a lot of wreckers on the south side (ABC Wreckers, Boss Wreckers) and then there's Kelly's Wrecking at Beams Road, Zillmere. Kelly's has pretty good prices and they'll usually take off the part you want for you.

***And Kelly's has the most CC's in any wreckers I've been to before.

By the way, my CC had the same problem and all I replaced was the idle motor, good as new. So I recommend doing that before looking at a new throttle body.

U mean 4g93 SOHC efi

You can prob pick up a cheap throttlebody from a wreckers or pick a part, otherwise change the idle stepper control and the throttle position sensor

He's at leavers, so you'll be waiting lol. Thats saying he didn't get blown away, from the news report leavers camp got destroyed

we had an evo converted cg in with high revving whenever, turns out replacing the thermostat fixed it. thats a fair cheap option to try.

Ahhh the old box shaped,

When its cold does it rev high then drops down?

Does the revs drop when u turn the lights and the A/C on at the same time??

Or does it just rev up n down all the time??

doesn't happen all the time. Mainly in the afternoon/evening.

A/C and lights might change up 100 but the problem is that the revving is normally at 700 then will rev up to 2.5k then cut out then rev again once it returns back to 700. The mechanic said it was a cut off from the computer which is what caused it to stop revving up all the way. Only happens when I'm idling or have the clutch in while it is rolling. Once I apply the accelerator it goes away (i'm guessing because i'm providing some actual instruction)

i have had same intermetent prob. idle contol was the issue. $40 from local abc wreckers in brissie. most of the lancer are missing these already so do as i did and get one off a proton . they charge you less and is nearly the same apart from slight different hose connector. but it works perfect.i had tried prior to this thermostat. fuel regulator. fuel filter. throttle body sensor. plus 4 bolts hold it on. save your money and fit yourself.
