Ey guys abit new to this forum ..

Well I recently just purchased a 1993 lancer gsr .. Best thing I've done so far .. And I realised I was blowing smoke from the back (bluish blackish)

I compression tested all four cylinders and came out 170psi in all 4 .. My question is .. What is the normal compression for these kinds of models? Has done 190xxx kms

as long as compression is within 0-15psi of each other, i wouldnt worry, unless its putting down really low numbers overall (if you said 170, id be concerned around 140 and lower

i think bluish smoke means oil bro, when was the last time it and the oil filter were changed and how much oil is there? plus are you using the right type of oil lol

Changed the oil as soon as I got the car done plugs, oil filter, oil (nulon 15w50 fully synthetic)

And one more question for all the cc gsr owners .. How much kms do you get on a full tank ?

^ Or valve stem seals. Not to sure if the dump pipe would have oil in it but the exhaust ports should if thats the case.

If the car smokes on idle but goes away when ur driving then valve stem seals

If its always smoking then turbo seals or rings

Um general rule of the thumb
white smoke ...coolant
light gray to mild gray.....oil
blue black....running to rich

some oils do burn dark gray though...if the valve stem seals are gone then you should notice oil usage around 250 to 500ml per 1000k
not sure about turbo seals never owned one :)

so check if your using oil, if your doing lots of small trips you might not notice a oil drop due to contaminates in the oil give it a good long run and check oil level
if that ok then check for over rich mixture at idle possibly the injectors are gummed up or warn out and are dribbling at idle...or o2 sensor not reading correctly...or your cooling sensor is reading a to low temp
and remaining in cold start mode ect ect ect :)
