2002 CG engine conversion options?

Recently spun a bearing on my 4g94 in a 02’ sedan just wondering instead of replacing engine are their any options that I could go with that would give me some more power with minimal conversion hopefully bolt in. Trying not to spend a lot on this but whilst the engine is out might be worthwhile putting something better in.
Am new to this forum so any advice/comments will be taken into consideration please don’t hate.

Being a CG, the only real way up would be a 4G69 or a 4G63(Evo7-9) conversion. I’d say neither being really straight forward, easy or cheap. Over 10 years on the forums and lancer community and I don’t recall seeing anyone do either to a CG yet.

The cheap option would be another 4G94, look at getting a cam a flash tune and maybe some intake and exhaust upgrades for more flow.

In the aspects of money however would a 4g93 bolt straight in even though it’s a slight downgrade?

Bolt in yes, but there are differences in the cam sensor power steering and aircon brackets, the ECU and a few other things. There’s a couple of threads in the CE section that should give you more solid info on the differences between the two. As quite a few have gone from a 93 up to a 94.

Also, the 93 is a better engine for turboing if you want to go that way later.

I think another 4g94 might be a good replacement for the time being considering I need the car running asap. Appreciate all this knowledge that’s new to me and will keep it in mind.
