dash 6 c auslancer imp.jpg dash 6 c auslancer imp.jpg I

Brightened up the interior of my CJ. ES Sport.

Solid Chrome 9mm pin striping tape along the top beveled part of the silver trim strip on the dash and front doors. Certainly added some sparkle and brightened the interior but not entirely happy with it. Will do for the time being .

bought Toyota Corolla sport badges, which unfortunately had the word ascent attached to thee top of them.

Intention was to remove top word and use the word sport on my ES Sport. Wasn't happy with result so trashed them.

Will keep looking for suitable badges.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Oh fair enough. Can find just about anything. See if you can find more examples on google images or something. I reckon I'll be able to find it for you.

Bought black car carpet from Clark Rubber $20, made a template with news paper for rear parcel shelf. Cut and fitted carpet looks great, protects vinyl.

Haven't notched out rear for air flow but seems to be OK as is . Check over time and make change if necessary.

Picked up RA snorkel from Mitsu: dealers new $175 will fit and post with photo.

RA Snorkel for AusLancer.jpg
Fitted RA Snorkel. Wow! Everything smoother and improved.
Take off from inclined to be jerky to as smooth as honey.
Acceleration, throttle response, maybe improved but cant qualify as better but certainly smoother.
Engine noise from drivers seat from harsh to, hard to describe, pleasing and rounded. Louder?
Improved air intake in front of snorkel with three rows of 1/4 inch holes. felt going
further would be overkill for 2ltr NA. All seems well.

If you have an ES CJ lancer and haven't got one. Well get one before they run out.
$175 retail from Mitsubishi dealer. Was told no worries with warranty.

Fitted sound deadening mainly under bonnet in engine bay. Will post a new thread on this with pictures and materials used soon.

Oops that was yesterday!

Had new tyres fitted. Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus 215 60 16. sized to 215 from 205. Reasons 205 $169, 215 $125 both buy 3 get fourth free. Got further discount by selling them my tyres.
Told me all things OK clearances, rim size etc all of which I already new and added expect fuel economy to be worse, told them that wasn't an issue with me.

Good by, noise bag Yokoharma Advan A-460 end to noisy 3000kms reduced to some extent with soundproofing

Couldn't evaluate difference properly because it started to rain but ride seemed smoother and noise less. Will check when weather fines up and post results.

Wow mighty wide tyres, how are clearances in and out? Wouldn't and couldn't do that to mine. Only 1 year old, so warranty issues and too extreme for my style of driving.

What's handling like?

This is starting to look like an exclusive peregrine column, come on CJ and now CF owners, this is your column, for your CJ car, make it count, no matter how trivial or complex we'd love to hear from you.

Make CJ's count. After all there is over 9 years of them.

Got to drive my CJ for the first time since I bought my daily! And omg! Words don't describe how much more I appreciate it now haha!

I've got 18x8 rims fitted with 35p offset so clearances are fine. Had no trouble on stock VRX suspension then my rear shocks failed so fitted BC Racing coilovers and lowered about 20mm and handles awesome now.

You can get the Ralliart front trim panel which has 2 large openings in it but you have to cut both panels and get the 2 halves you need to use plastic welded together. Lets a lot more air in.

Attempted sound comparison of new tyres, sun shining etc but this is Melbourne! down the road started to get some readings then came the drizzle! end of test.
However seems like decibel ie: db. A, readings aren't going to be all that much different but subjectively the difference was huge, car is a lot quieter.

Possible explanation ,most of the various tone levels especially the higher pitched sounds being eliminated but may be one or two lower level, less detectable ones persisting, leaving readings much the same

No matter what! The difference was like WOW! My tyres were like still new after only 3000km and I only got a pittance for them but well worth the change.
