Weight Distribution

I can't find anything on the stock weight distribution of the 3 door hatch CE Mirages. Does anyone know what it is please?

Another member Spetz wrote a while ago that his 6a12 converted lancer coupe has a 66/34 F/R split. I'd imagine stock may be a fraction lighter in the front.

Yeah I have a feeling it'll be closer to 60/40 F/R but just wondering if anyone has heard the actual figure before.

That's correct. I also weighed the 6A12 to be ~45kg heavier than a 4G93.
The 4G15 is obviously lighter, and perhaps the rear end of the Mirage is lighter too.
So about 65/35 is what you're likely at.

Incidentally I also weight my friend's EG Civic hatch with a B16A and though lighter overall, it had the exact same weight distribution as mine with the 6A12.
A 4G93 auto coupe had the same distribution too.

Keeping in mind this is on a public weigh bridge that reads in 20kg increments.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'm thinking of doing battery relocation to boot once I've done some weight removal to try and balance it out a bit and free up some room in the engine bay. Just trying to figure out if it's worth it or not

Just to throw a spanner in the works, 50/50 weight isn’t everything. You’ll have far less traction on the front wheels, particularly for acceleration purposes. Unless you’re changing spring and shock rates too, you will find it handles worse. There are easier/more controlled ways of getting mechanical grip in the rear.

Yeah I know 50/50 isn't everything but most of the weight I want to remove will be towards the rear. Im going to be getting decent coilovers and setting it up as a quick street car and trackable car. Especially if I'm going to swap to the 4g93 the front is going to be quite heavy. But maybe that's ok and I don't need to do relocation ‍♂️

I've driven a 4G93 converted Mirage with no interior and no AC.
It was actually really fun to drive and certainly didn't feel unbalanced or too front heavy.

I think with a battery relocation you'll be fine overall and I would suggest focusing on this if/when it becomes an issue.

For now just do what you can, that is, the 4G93 conversion or any other mods

Yeah righto sweet, thanks man. I can get a good deal for someone else to do it so thought it might be a half decent idea to free up room in the engine bay anyway haha

Putting my car on the scales confirms the ratio Spetz stated.

Get a good slippery diff, a rear sway bar and some good shocks, that will get it handling like a go-kart.
