from that vid it sounds good, not farty, kinda raspy like a build honda (i mean that in a good way too)

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with the sound. :)

Does anyone know what all that liquid is coming out the exhaust though? I'm hoping it's just water from the hose coz I washed the car just before taking the video.

I'm sure I can post mine up later... Hopefully not piss off the neighbors. I'll hit limiter ok ;-)

lol its water. worst case is you have blown the head gasket. 99.9% of the time its just basic chemistry:
combustion of petrol:
2C8H18 + 25O2 ~> 16CO2 + 18H2O

the h20 is vapour but as it hits your cold exhaust pipe it condenses into liquid.

This is why it is always recommended to drive your car for longer periods rather than 5 minutes to the shop and back as the pipe will not heat up enough to evaporate away water. If it doesnt it just sits in the exhaust and accelerates corrosion. ;)

exactly correct d3x. another factor of what causes this slight water blow is; what your system is made from . a mate had a copper pipe system on his Ford and in the mornings this copper material was quite cold and when he started the car up and the pipe got warm , out come the water blow for a good 30 plus secounds. its a good idea just to keep a check on the radiators water level just incase this is another problem .

So after 3 attempts at filming, 2 fails I didn't want to aggravate the neighbours more so only got it to around 4000rpm.

Thunder Extractors
2.25 mandrel bent exhaust
Not sure on the muffler manufacture anymore, stainless oval twin tip from autobarn. (Possibly Xforce)
K&N Panel Filter
60mm Throttle body

Shame the injectors you can hear over the top of the exhaust lol!

On the first video i did, but the radio was on and it was over the top. The second video I did although in my haste I missed hitting the record button hard enough. On my third I thought I'd be considerate to my neighbours, you know where I live lol.

its water, the byproduct of combustion is water and CO2 (plus other nastys due to the unpure nature of air), also because you just washed the car LOL

Edit: read the other posts next time brendan, this was already answered a heap of times.

that has to be one of my favorite sounding lancers ever and one of my favorite overall lancers now! i love how its deep then goes sport and very raspy... kinda like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDLUgZN0mNk but i think yours sounds better, not so offensively loud raspyness haha listen for the second last high rev. thats the evo :D

Heres my second attempt.

Engine
-4G93 SOHC - 1999 CC orientation

Exhaust system
-Hens 4-2-1 Extractors (2.25 inch) going into stock exhaust system
-removed rear muffler (axle back)

Supporting mods
-Trondabron CAI to front bar
-High flow panel filter

Also excuse the background noise etc, its in a carpark near parramatta road.

bump

does anyone have a video of straight pipe replacing the rear muffler, OR of a hotdog replacing the rear muffler or either a lancer or mirage?
