The 4g93 Swap Help

When resetting the ecu (it resets its basic calculations) by disconnecting power, it'll struggle to idle for a few first starts. Try to get it idling without revving, and then let ir idle for about 15 mins
intake was backwards. Thanks to a friend on the facebook page

still failing to idle

with it idling (try holding the revs a tiny tiny bit at like 1000 rpm to keep it going), spray starting fluid/start ya bastard around the manifold, and if it revs up a bit, you've got a vac leak

Well done, only took us 7 pages and 125 posts to get there :tearsofjoy:

Might be a wise idea to disconnect the battery, wait 10 minutes, and reconnect the battery, and start the car. When you cut power to the ecu, it resets the fuel trims, meaning it reads the oxygen sensor and how rich or lean it is, but doesnt really know how much fuel to add or subtract, this is called fuel trims and is saved in the ECU as a %. Letting it idle for 16 minutes after reconnecting power will let the ecu cycle 4 times so it'll get a good average of the correct % to add or subtract, and will let you have a decent fuel economy.

Edit: oh and put the car back together now

Can do donki

Thankyou so much

not quite time to put her back together gotta do my mates turbo swap for his gti now cause its parked me in on jacks LOL

In your opinion what is the best way to put gearbox oil in?

Through the refill hole.

Check you can undo the refil hole first, and then undo the drain. Bad things happen if you can refill a gearbox lol. I've used a funnel and a hose to pour oil into the box, i believe the car should be on flat ground when you do it too.

where is that ? edit: nvm the fill was what I thought the drain was

can you explain more? what bad things?

and why would we unplug the drain plug wouldn't it just all leak out?

we drained most of it through the speedo by accident which is why it needed a refill

It comes off from the pedal in the lancer (easiest to do laying upside down in the footwell, without a dash/engine installed), and then it feeds through from the inside to the outside. It'll hook up the same way in the Mirage as it was intalled
How do you remove the throttle cable?

Definitely an interesting thread. My biggest question is; to make the tacho gauge work with the 1.8 swap, is there any looms that need to be changed? Or do you literally just swap the gauge?

@donki ?

You can put the 1.8 cluster using 1.5 loom but the tacho wont work. You need to splice into a specific wire that goes into either the engine bay or ecu loom. I dont know which one but i know its been mentioned plenty of times before.

I personally just swapped the interior loom from the MR into my mirage so i didnt have to splice into any wires. Also made it easier knowing that the power windows, power mirrors and foglights would work.
