Stealing CE Lancer and Mirages

So recently I have seen a couple Mirages had been stolen. As far as I'm aware CE Lancer and Mirages are not that easy to steal.

I commented on the post and asked a few questions and stated a few facts. A couple people disagreed with me.

Long story short I asked him to explain how to start the car with out the key but he has not replied.

So am I unaware of something to do with how "easy" they are to steal or are they full of *poo*?

Im asking because if they are easy to steal I might look in to getting more security for my Lancer.

Same as any other car of the same year/generation - they have a chip in the key that is verified by an immobiliser unit within the car, and then allows the ECU to start the car.

No real easy way around it, unless you bring your own key, barrel, imob, and ECU, and even then you still end up with a smashed window.

That's what I though.

They also said the mirage did have a key reader but as far as I know all ce mirage and lancers have key readers

Misleading title. though you were stealing mirages..
Park next to a commodore or hyundai they will go first

Johnzy if you’re in NZ then they’re probably jap spec mirages with no immobilizer...so screwdriver in the ignition: done

Introducing immobilisers was an Australian Design Requirement, i believe this was around the 1995/1996 mark.
