Ralliart Turbo

Hi - I recently purchased a 09 Ralliart Sportsback with just over 30k km's on it and am new to this whole turbo thing. While I know it's meant to have some whine to it, mine seems to make like a weird 'siren' like noise at its peak. Not loud or anything just annoying. Car drives like new and absolutely no other issues. Just wondering if this is the norm??? Also, can someone recommend a place in Brisbane where I can take her to give it a 'one over' just to ensure there is no issue with my turbo? Any info would've appreciated.

Probably would be easier for everyone if you had some sort of video or audio recording of the noise. Nice pick up though, you should put up some pics.

Is it like a high pitched whistle noise? Thinking that might be just the turbo spool sound from the description. If it is then yes that's normal with turbo cars

It's probably the sst transmission. Flip it into manual mode and slowly rev through the gears and see if it occurs, if it happens switch to sports mode and see what you get, then switch it to drive in sports mode and see if your still getting it. My best advice to you is this car comes with it's own unique sounds that keep you guessing for hours so don't be too concerned, It will also sound like a tractor/diesel when it's idling when it first fires up.

I think the noise is actually coming from the air filter box. Is there a way that I can tell if its seated/sealed properly? I will record the noise and post to help.

Sorted! Noise is gone... Air filter wasn't sitting properly even though it looked like it was. Removed and made sure the bottom clips were in place before putting back and sorted! Now that I've got that noise out of the way, can someone please tell me if this is noise is normal. After going out for a drive, when I turn the car off it seems to make a lot 'tinny clicking noises'. Sort of like the exhaust is going from extreme hot to cold. I've recorded the noise but cant figure how to post it here.

its probably just the exhaust cooling down, happens on a lot of cars even non turbo

yep that is the metal cooling, completely normal noise, no problems

That is a very accurate description of the 'fault'. So accurate, it answers its self
