RA intake on ES Lancer

So I’ve been reading about mods to the intake. Probably done to death, however I’m missing how the RA intake helps...as far as I can see, yes it has a bigger intake and is wider, but the part where it connects to the air filter box is the same size. So to me it looks like the restriction is at the air filter box connection?
Unless I’m missing something?
Any info would be great as to what the RA intake would do.

Go breathe through a funnel and then go breath a piece of hose that’s the same diameter as the small end of the funnel. Which ones easier?

larger mouth on the intake is less restriction. And you’d be surprised how unrestrictive modern OEM intakes are from the airbox to the motor (filter included)

Same thing happened with the 380 during development. They infamously had a small intake in Australia but OS models has a wide mouth intake so a good cheap mod was buy a 9G galant intake.

Why? Cause it was a few dB too loud for australian laws and it cost the 380 a few kW but it was a cheap solution in development to quieten them down.
