Quad throttle bodys

i thought rpw had in the past.
also remember them having a twin throttle setup, not sure if there was much gain though.

Whole lot of money for not a lot of gain. Only 2 reasons why anyone would go quad throttle over turbo:

1) Hardcore N/A fan
2) To be different

Believe me, being different might seem cool when you're in your early 20's, but it's a giant waste of cash. The money you'd spend doing quad throttles would easily cover a basic turbo set up.

It's a common thing in South East Asia due to the fact that the mini throttle bodys are common (larger capacity scooters run 38mm tb's), and they like to run hack jobs of mods lol.

To do so in Aus, expect a gain of about 5kw at the engine, with a fair bit of custom fab work, not including tuning (which is a pain in the *Richard*) for about $4k. A turbo setup of $4k would net around 50kw.

i've honestly never seen a quad throttle on a lancer

They're often called Individual Throttle Bodies (ITB's), somewhat more common on MX5s, but the RB26DETT in the Skyline runs then from factory (the Rb uses them to draw air from a common intake plenum, whereas the MX5 usually is just their open filters. They benefit from ITBs are they're a sports engine - the CC/CE is an economy engine, and just respond as well to the mod

Theres one or two on youtube, but in Malaysia and Thailand and that sort of place, and they're usually on the older CC-generation/4g18/4g15

I looked into that, but its a massive outlay. You also need to use another ECU to control the injectors.

I remember in the UK people used to use the yamaha r1 throttle bodies on their vauxhall nova's - youtube it if you are interested. I would only do quad throttle bodies for one reason - the noise. BORP BORRRP haha!

It certainly has been done. It will require an aftermarket ECU because you can't use the air flow meter. Jenvey from the UK are expensive but good. A bloke that runs in aasa with a CE and dohc 93 uses them. AT power are another very nice option. Decent gains with good supporting mods can be made with just about any engine.

Ive just put a twin throttle body on my twin cam 93 and it's definitely accelerates much better than a single.

I have done quad throttle bodys on a eg civic and i do understand the problems that come with it like vacume ect. Just wondering if any one had done it from this forum.
Always good to hear from like minded people
