ive thought about interstate buying but my mrs would kill me even if i mentioned it to her haha.

nsw cars are generally a bit cheaper too so im told. wish i lived up there sometimes due to that :p

well that'd be why you dont tell her :p

OT: get it mang just be prepared to go through front gearboxs :D i was told i would go through them in the rolla but it never happened granted 2nd gear syncro got a bit meh towards the end but that was all

just remember that if you buy a car from interstate it's going to cost you another grand to get a roadworthy, pay stamp duty, get victorian plates and a full years rego.

on top of the price i brought josh's old car for, i paid another $1,100 for all that stuff. so it's worth it if you really love the car :D

lol, well its great to hear that joshy's car went to a good home

yeah i am still keen on this regardless of postive/negative feedback.

It's a Toyota, they're good :) I bet you'd have fun with it. Do what you want :)

nah im an apprentice joiner.. i just make windows and doors and glaze *poo* lol.

oh dear... why a starlet? because its turbo? 1.3L turbo = 1.8L NA (SLOW)

Good Luck with it, I dont think everyone's comments gonna change your mind.

ive seen the potential these things have, lets just see where i take it.

you are right people can can have their opinions but none will change my decision :p

or MR-2 *nods* rwd+rear engine 2.0L turbo, and affordable

20+ year old 1.3T < 10 year old 1.8NA.. lol

But yeah, good luck with it. Stick with what you're happy with. Auslancer needs more non-lancers

When it comes to the early 90's, stick with the two best companies that made turbo cars - Nissan and Toyota. I'd go an MR2 or a 300zx. Both can be bought cheap, and you can find parts anywhere for them. Even a Pulsar GTiR would be better than the starlet - but thats my opinion......It ain't my money!

Also, if you get the chance to drive a Mitsu Starion or a Nissan Exa (turbo). Both of them are fairly light and plenty of power depending on what engine you want for them.

Mate has an early 90s Celica, but it's non-turbo 2.2L and it's been a very reliable car for him (done like 300,000km now) and he doesnt treat it kindly. So one of the GT4s would def be worth looking at.

Only main issue he has with his was the suspension. There's some bearing assembly at the top of the struts which were hard to come buy from wreckers and ridiculously priced from Toyota apparently (which caused issues with his front struts and allignment) so he ended up putting coilovers in it.

But yeah I am with the general consensus here on the starlet sorry....

This thread needs a bit of VLT! :p

I think ull find Mr2's aren't in the price range. If anyone can find a 2.0 Mr2 turbo for $5g I will buy it! The na's on the net start at 6 and go up to 10 depending on condition. Haven't been able to find a turbo one under 10 yet.

yeah i do agree with you B16... there were a few MR2s for sale with high kms and not really great condition for like roughly $6K or more, but nothing decent.

i dont like celicas. guys stop trying to suggest things honestly you should know by now that nothing changes my decision no matter how many different things you suggest. i do appreciate it but yeah lol. :)
