Hey folks, just got hold of a decent 01 mirage. Just over 200k, reasonable service history (cam belt confirmed changed recently)

Got a few things I'd like to do, anyone know if the dash from a Lancer will go in? Looking to add tacho if I can. And upgrade factory speakers which appear to be almost deceased, if I can ever get the damned driver's door window crank off. Can't find the C-clip to remove it. But it's early days.

Power steering pump seems a little noisy, but not all the time... Curious. Not low on oil. A few little scrapes and bumps which might get attention, and a bit of a polish at some point.

Aside from that, it's just keeping a decent little economical runner on the road.

Did manage to find a parcel shelf at a wreckers though. Not cheap, but hard to find.

The 1.8L lancer tacho cluster fits right in, but the wiring needs to be added on the car side. You need to run a tach signal from the ecu or the engine bay plug, and an earth. You will also need a resistor in the signal line otherwise the needle will bounce around and not read true rpm. Have a read and a search around, been asked plenty of times. You could also track down a vrx mirage cluster that requires no extra work.

P/S pumps are fairly cheap and simple enough to change, grab yourself a gregorys/haynes bible and you’ll be a master of these cars in no time.
