My old 300hp 4g93 needs some lovin!

Anyway, here she is.

Since this photo, I have removed the power steering altogether because I cant stop the belts disintegrating under full boost.

So I need a Manual steering box anyone please!!!
I also removed 56kgs out of the interior and the power steering and it made a big difference roll racing.
Also made a custom cold air intake with filter delete.....

Yes!! It looks like *poo*, but it definately makes a difference.
I will get some videos of me smashing some big dollar cars at Roll Racing 10 at Sydney on 10th March..
I dont do cameras and *poo*, so anyone who can come and document the night, i would be more than happy to accommodate.

I just need to pick up a donor light.

Yes,
I got one from the local wreckers. Its like 3 bolts to swap it over.
Roll racing requires you have lights in working order, so I couldnt just delete and put an airbox in.

nice work.
how much do you need to bore to fit your pistons?

Not sure on the final bore size. The pistons were 81.5mm. The cylinders were not oversise by much.
I can find out from the guy that did it if you need to know.

Just wondering if the rebore reduced the strength of the bore/block.

I had 2 guys look at the block and they both said it was signs of detonation.
A third guy said it was possibly because I didnt have the brace on the bottom of the intake manifold to the block. Im not so sure, but its back on anyway.
I recon that when I had to replace the pistons the first time round, because the disintegrated due to detonation, I had to hone the crap out of number 3 as it was a lot worse than the rest.
It may have been very stressed since then, and i put bigger injectors and an E85 tune in it since then and the block just said no more.
The guy that bored the new block said he had done 93s in the past and said they were extremely strong, and with the tiny overbore I was doing it wouldnt be a problem.
In saying that, I took him for a drive in it a couple of weeks ago and he *poo* his pants.
Goes a bit better than I remember. He said.

yeah maybe stress from the last engine failure.... hopefully it will be good now.
e85... how much power you making now?

1000cc injectors, one bosch 044 pump with E85, I got 241Kw at the wheels (323hp).
Tuner says I ran out of fuel. need another pump and the old GT35/40 will run out of puff soon as well.
He said with a bigger turbo, 2 pumps and bigger injectors, the motor should be good for 450hp atw.
Whats your aim with the new setup?
I would definately recommend E85, but how strong is your motor?

the 1000cc injectors should have a bit left but your pump at that boost might be struggling. the turbo should have more to give.... it's the 82mm exducer compressor wheel... what's the inducer diameter or trim?
mine will just get pushed till it breaks...
the rod and piston manufacture have their bits rated at 900hp... lol

... what's the inducer diameter or trim?

I am a sponge when it comes to this sort of info......
but I dont know.. It is a Garrett GT35/40 with the compressor A/R 0.7
inducer (turbine)? is 65 somethings, whatever that means..
If you can, explain what you need to know as I am uneducated when it comes to turbos, and I wish to learn.

inducer on the compressor is the first part of the wheel that touches the air or grabs it. the smaller diameter of the compressor, eg my old gt3076 has a 55.1mm inducer and 76mm exducer ( the outer diameter) where the air gets flung out from...
this wheel can also be called a 52 trim.

the 40 in gt3540 only implies that the exducer is 82mm but the inducer or trim could be anything. the inducer is generally the best indicator of how much the compressor will flow.

So the inducer is the top of the compressor wheel and the exducer is the base of the compressor wheel.
Is it the same for the turbine, or is it different because the flow, if you like, is reversed?

On the turbine the flow enters at the base of the wheel which makes that the inducer which will be the larger dimension.
the gt30 turbine is 60mm inducer and 55mm exducer which makes it a 84 trim wheel.

so your are right it is 'reversed' on the turbine.

Sounds like a 71mm wheel commonly found on gt28 or gt30.

need to measure the exducer to calculate the trim but if its 52/71mm then

(52×52)÷(71×71) = 0.536
53.6 trim
