Installing Fog lights into a Mirage?

Ok I've completed the power windows (yay) couldn't be stuffed about power mirrors cause I only adjust them once but I'd like fog lights. Now I've got them wired into the car and I've got the switch plugged into the dash and I've swapped the fuse in the engine bay and still no light?

I've had a browse through the old gregory manual but there isn't any part of foggies

Any help would be much apprciated

Thanks

I have a mirage and these are from a lancer

Do your parkers still come on when you press the switch? If not you could have a faulty switch. I'm assuming its an oem switch, they tend to burn out and melt the back.

Did you plug in the extra relay? Under the dash on the drivers side from memory

When I put foggies in my mirage, I found that the mirage interior loom was missing a wire from the switch to the front loom. I got around it my putting in a MR interior and front loom. All factory wiring, worked first go. Took time, but was OEM AF!

Couldn't find the relay for it under the car?

Yeah might be the problem. I may swap the looms when I do the engine swap in a week or so

Hey ARC Can you just explain this bit to me abit more? Which loom did you swap? I've got an 03 Mirage and the loom appeared to have everything for the fog lights. Are you saying the switch cable is physically missing a cable? Wouldn't it be there for the VRX models anyways and just not touched for lower trims like mine?

I've looked over the relay box under the dash and can't find the second relay you are mentioning? Can you send a picture at all?

Want to get this sorted before I start the swap tomorrow :)

Oooo maybe I should swap the relay for the parkers aswell as they should come on with the foggies? trying it now

Ok, So a basic diagram of what I was trying to tell you.

I also had a complete MR parts car.
To make my fog lights work, I removed the MR front loom and interior/dash looms and installed it in to my mirage.
All factory wiring, nothing added. worked perfect. It took a while, but was totally worth the time IMO.
Also added the door looms as well which had all the factory wiring for the power windows and mirrors.

Your mirage looms will not have the wiring in it for fog lights, VRX's also did not have it as it was not an option.

I'm actually going to save this and use for my own notes - simplified wiring diagrams are gold for getting your head around systems

I hearby declare ARC's drawings here as The Gold Standard for Loom Terminology and from today onwards all loom wording should be referenced against this image.

Haha love the diagram. I do alot of electrical stuff in uni and simpler diagrams always help!

What I guess I'm trying to ask is: Although my loom has plugs for the foglights it still wont work?

Correct. I have an 03 Mirage, and plugging in the OEM lights and OEM switch into the stock plugs i couldnt get it to work, so i ended up making my own custom loom

Ok thanks

Pretty useless having the plugs if they dont work smh Mitsubishi

I think they had a generic loom for all CEs, and then with foggies they added in the extra couple wires, so they'd save a couple cents worth of wire instead of having all CE's with the same loom. Ah well!

Yeah the plug is there, but it’s missing this white wire where the interior loom connects to the front loom. I confirmed it through my Gregory’s Manual.
I took a photo of it when I solved the mystery a few years back and now just found it :)

Top connector was my original mirage interior loom and the bottom is from the MR front loom I had just installed at the time.

I ran into this same issue when I installed my foggies
I got around it by making my own “wiring loom” up but still retaining all the factory components like the plugs and factory fog switch
Very very easy
