Head unit problems!!

Hey guys just upgraded my headunit to a pretty average sony one.... everything is up and running but when I turn the car off the headunit resets itself to all the factory settings!! its not the end of the world but its annoying me... any help? :( :( :(

check all your wiring there should be two 12V sources, one is the acc power which turns the unit on when you turn the car on the other is the constant power when retains all your settings and is the main power wire, your constant power wire is most likely not connected

but its weird because you have to touch the connected yellow and red wires (both power cables) together to get the unit to turn on....

Hey dude, i had the same problem with my sony head unit, i kept playing with it and finally got it to work, i have mine wires so that the Yellow wire (from the sony lume) is connected to the red wire (mitsu lume) and the red wire (sony lume) is connected to the blue wire (mitsu lume) i had the same issue with needing to have both wires connected to on but now it is working all fine! Hope it works for you and you can understand it :/ hahaha

From memory the yellow wire is the memory and should be a thicker wire which needs a constant power supply, the red wire is the switch power wire and needs to go to the ignition

Yeah sounds like your 12v constant isn't connected. Should be blue wire in the car audio loom.

And that should connect to the yellow wire on your sony lume! Unless my wiring has somehow found a loophole XD

Okay so...
I know how to fix this IF it is what happened to me when I did a new head unit and amp install in my lancer.
I can't remember the colours, think the guys above are stating the correct ones, otherwise use a multimeter if you have one.
You need to look at the head units wiring diagram that came with it to connect the 12V constant and then 12v remote wire to the correct one from the car, now this is where I spent 4 hours at night trying everything to get it to work...
FUSE!!
Under the hood in the fuse box there will be one for the headunit, check the diagram on the fuse box lid for the "Music note logo", and most likely that will be blown if your constant isn't working :)

Hope this can help coz I sure know it was super annoying having my head unit reset like yours will be.
So long story short, check that "music note" fuse haha
