Names Mike, live in humidity filled Townsville and am the proud owner of a 96 Mirage, my first Mirage.

Its equipped with an almighty 1.5l with 200k on the clock. Shes a little hesitant at times but I've got a new dizzy coil on its way as someone had the same problem I'm experiencing(this was after cleaning the tb, changing air filter panel and spark plugs.) If it mends the problem ill change out the leads and check/clean the cap and move onto the fuel system before doing a fluid change just to keep the car in good running order.

My plans were to keep it as is but an 01 or 02 ce lancer with a 93 in it just popped up on facebook and upon searching the forums, seems like the most logical swap to do. The guy wants $300 for the entire car but there is an issue.

The ignition barrel is busted to absolute *poo*e and the owner claims to have "lost" the keys, so whats the best way around that? Scrapyards here dont house much lancers or mirages, I've already gone through two with no luck.

There are sadly no plans for forced induction, unfortunately. But like everything else, the moon and stars may align themselves in a manner, which could make the missus, when asked, to say "yes, yes you may add an turbo". But i have a better chance of hitting the lotto, hence, no plan. But this engine swap(even though I've told her its just a parts car to keep costs down on repairs) seems like a go.

ANYWAY, i look forward to asking you guys questions that could be answered by properly using the search function.

Cheers.

Welcome dude!
To answer this using the 1.8 ecu, the immobilizer can be bypassed by a bloke on here called hens to use your original key barrel setup from the 1.5. Others on here may be able to help also but i know he offers a mail in mail out service. Other than that looks for someone with a wrecked 1.8 and chase the ecu, keys, barrels and the little immobilizer box underneath the dash, both options could be had for around the same price $$

G'Day!

As above, ecu can be modified to bypass the imobiliser. You'll probably want to add in an aftermarket alarm/imob after you get this done - just so no one steals your car haha! Can be done with a tactrix and some knowledge, if you don't want to pay someone else. Best of luck.
