hi all, i have a 97 ce gli, and ive seen some talk about evo 4 front sway bars being able to fit with mild persuasion. i donked mine in a crash and figured i might as well upgrade rather than replace and so in turn i was looking at a 24mm whiteline evo 4 bar. what will i need to do to make it fit? any help is appreciated :)

essentially youll need a drop link similar to a Nissan s13 front drop link which will allow you pick up the vertical hole in the swaybar and through the horizontal hole in the CE lower control arm

these arent proven so it'll take some experimentation / try it n see. someone may confirm/deny these will work but thats the gist of it.

OR, weld some 90 degree brackets onto you LCA's for oem evo4 style drop links.

There is absolutely no reason to run anything other than a stock front swaybar in a CE unless it is a track car.
Go to pick-a-part and get a stock one from a Lancer for $30.

Alternatively, I have a stock FTO and a Whiteline FTO swaybar which fit but you need to connect them to the shocks which are for sale. Though I do not recommend this route.

stock fto front = stock lancer front swaybar, but different connection point (shock versus LCA mount)

Not true. The stock FTO front swaybar is 16mm as opposed to 18mm of the Lancer.
Additionally (as you mentioned) the mounting point is different but this has an impact due to the leverage effect.
