D Drive dash light - Is it supposed to be off when in D mode?

Hi Guys,
Just got a 2007 CH lancer.
I was wondering if you guys can help.
When I select D on the transmission lever, It does not light up in the dash?
Is this normal? or does anyone have a CH Lancer where the D lights up in dash when in drive?
I get P, R, N lit up..but when I put it into Drive.. the D does not light up.
If I select Manual mode..it shows, 1,2,3,4 fine.
Just does not show the D light in Auto.
Can you guys who have 2005 - 2007 CH lancers check in your car to see if the D light shows up?
If so, is it a simple fix?

Thanks so much guys.

Dave

I've got a 2000 Magna that I bought new.

For the first few years the D light worked then it blew. A search on the web showed it was common as the selector spent most of its working life in drive. Solution is to replace the bulb.

Could be the same with your lancer.

Thx Vk, Might be the issue.
I was also wondering is this normal for the lancers to NOT have the D light showing? Or do they indeed have it lit up? Hope to hear from another lancer CH owner. But again, thx for commenting VK :)

VK is spot on. Very likely just the bulb has blown after 11 years of driving. Easy to fix
Remove the shroud, (two screws)
Remove the cluster, (three or four screws)
Unclip the two plugs from the cluster on its way out. May take some wiggling to get it around the steering wheel. Once its out, the bulb holder twists about 90 degrees and then it will pull straight back out. Unfortunatly I cant remember if its a t5 or a t10 bulb, so youll probably have to buy both and keep the other as a spare.

And yes, it should light up in drive, can confirm as the owner of 3 CH’s. Legally has to, as the gear selector itself doesnt. :) .

Thanks a lot for the info. Will try to get an instruction on how to pull dash out.. thx a lot. guys.

Hey Sd, do you or anyone else know, if there is a separate bulb for each gear selection EG: P R N D, so 4 bulbs..or is it just one bulb? They all seem very bright when selecting each gear position, so I was thinking they would have 4 bulbs, as the P R N lights work, but the D light does not. From what VK was saying above, it seems they would be separate, but just want to confirm. Could it also be a selector wire on the auto transmission gear shift stick itself? Thx Again. Dave

Ill pull the cluster out of my missus car on wednesday and post up a picture.

Im sure if you took it to a mitsubishi delear theyd fix it for less than $50 if youre not confident doing it yourself.

Would hate for you to go to any trouble SD, I just rang Mitsubishi (maybe should have done that first hey..lol) They quoted $90 labour and globe and the service guy said yes, they are separate globes and to just get them from repco etc..
I suppose I would have to pull out the dash and see what type it is, unless you guys know?
Thx for your help guys.
