Hello, I have little to barely any knowledge on car performance.

Just heard having a cold air intake added to my lancer will improve my fuel (more push at the same level of gas or something) economy and make it slightly more faster.

Does anyone know where in Brisbane I could go to have this done? I have a muffler + resonator delete (straight pipe) to a cannon exhaust. It sounds a bit droney. Hoping the cold air intake will change the sound a bit too.

But I'm mostly after the cold air intake advice though. Looking at some slight performance gains, as after having the muffler / resonator taken out my car seems twice as slow... Weird? Or maybe it's just the loud sound that makes me realise how slow the stock auto ES lancer is lol.

Looking at around $500 depending on what's available. Car: 2009 ES lancer sedan automatic. Thanks.

Cold air intake won't change the exhaust note, it'll help the engine throttling sound louder (usually) though. Most cars are mapped rich, adding an intake or other "air" mods will help lean out the fuel ratios and hence the small boost to performance (this wont mean an extra 20kw, expect more like 1-3kw and better acceleration), but economy will stay the same or perhaps worsen as you get used to the additional "power" and start hitting the gas a lot more/harder.

The function of a hotdog, aka resonator is to cancel out certain sound frequencies, which is to mean they are designed specifically to remove drone and rasp. Get a decent resonator or two reinstalled to the exhaust and it will loose the drone, and likely feel it performs better. Longer res's cancel out the deeper pitched tones, shorter res's to remove higher pitched tone.

If your interested Brisbane have a chat to "right price exhaust" on Moss Street @ Slacks Creek.
I suggest you avoid 2.5 inch exhaust , and the Canon as well. Unless you want something that sounds pretty horrible and gives equally unimpressive torque as well.
Drop-in a fibreglass packed resonator and fibreglass packed Lukey and your on the right track.
I would stick with 2.25 inch and if your serious about getting some decent power out of the NA ecu tune , extractors, aftermarket air cleaner , RA snorkel , lots of gold heat reflection tape and exhaust wrap under the bonnet, RA bonnet to help get that heat out
