Ce Mirage Headlamp rubber boots... yay or nay?

So because one side of my HID lights conked out(not sure if its the ballast or bulb), i decided to try on a pair of these rather modern LED lightbulbs... with a little fan behind no less.

I could barely get them to fit as i had to squeeze the locking pin or whatever you call that past what i assume to be the fat motor housing... and when i finally did they r abit shaky. Then I find out the OE rubber boots don't fit @ all. Again, because of the fat motor housing and also there is a cut out behind for the fans to draw air in to cool the LED circuitry or something like that.

They are really bright but seems like there's no way to adjust the light throw.. its as if they are on high beam all the time lol.

Sorry for the deviate. Now, has anyone encountered something similar? Can i get away with not putting on the boots, or are they really important? i'll have to cut them up abit to make them fit over the bulbs if they are but i rather not.. plain laziness talking lol

The dust covers are for keeping out water and dust. Generally its okay without them, but if it rains heavily, you might get some moisture in the headlight housing if you don't use the covers. The heat from the LEDs should dry that out that, but you'll also have to consider if the moisture will ruin the circuitry on the LED/fan module itself.

With the HID ones you might be able to twist the fans off and out the dust cover over and put them back on
At least my ones you could take them off
Could you upload a photo of them as I may be able to help
@samurai blues where did you get the HID’s from?

Oh no mate. Can't. the motor/fan part of the LED bulb is just too big. if i want to keep them on, i have to definitely cut them.

I checked my Mitsubishi EPC; u cant' get the dust boots separately; they come with headlights. How bloody annoying.

Amazing thing abt these rubber boots; 20 years on after all the heat from the engine bay and headlights, they are still soft and.... rubbery.

Fair enough, might have to do some work with the rubbers or go back the standard headlights, my HID’s were a big pain to get in and the rubber over aswell, if I get some photos I’ll show you what my lights look like in

Actually HIDs are do-able. Alot of squeezing and cussing lol. Also depends on the kit; the main problem is the main connector 3 pin socket.

what a beach. talking abt that reminds me of last night !@#$%^& fingers still hurt lol
